The Tragic Accident
"Oliver, where are you? Whenever I call you or need you, you are always busy," Amelia complained on the phone. She was wearing her favorite teddy bear pajama set that Oliver had given her as a gift on her 18th birthday. It was very old and fading, but she always cherished it and wore it whenever she was feeling low, thinking that it would bring her good luck. But today it was the opposite.
"Amelia, I think we should break up now," Oliver said while massaging his head due to frustration.
"What do you mean to break up? Are you upset with me because I did something wrong? If so, can you tell me what I have done wrong? I promise, Oliver, I will not do that again, and I promise to make it up to you," Amelia said in desperation to save her relationship.
"Oliver, say something," Amelia shouted out of desperation when she did not receive any reply from the other party.
"I don't feel like talking to you anymore. You gave me all in this relationship, but too soon. So I am now bored of you!" Oliver shouted at her in frustration.
"What do you mean by I gave you all too soon, Oliver?" Amelia asked, stunned, eyes burning with overflowing tears.
"I mean, I got all the things one seeks in any relationship, but would you have loved me some less and given some more time, I would not have got bored of you. You don't have anything new to share with me now. And that is the reason I no longer feel like talking to you!" Oliver ruthlessly said.
Tears stopped flowing from her eyes, and Amelia was never as determined before as she was right then. Amelia wiped away the remaining signs of hurt and love from her face, and clenched her fist; her body shaking with anger.
"Fine, if it is my fault that I loved you more than I should have, and now you think that you are bored of me, let us better choose our ways." Amelia tucked the wild strand of her dark brown hair and looked out of her window, into the endless starless sky.
A silent tear flowing from her eye was a sign; that Amelia had wasted the amount of tears that were meant for this guy, the guy who was her first love, her first crush, and her life.
"I break up with you, by all means. Today, we have no concern whatsoever for each other's lives. Bye." And then Amelia added a silent note, "Take care and stay happy."
And Amelia cut the call with an unsaid 'I still love you and can love you more than you could have ever thought of.'
Furious and hurt, Amelia restlessly started tossing in her bed. The events of their happy moments together flashed in front of her eyes.
The way they looked at each other, the way he would bring her chocolates, roses, and teddy bears, the small talk, funny jokes, and romantic dates.
They were the best and cutest couple in the world; with nothing but love and respect for each other. Oliver was always by her side, in all that Amelia did. Amelia had enjoyed her first sip of wine with him. He was with her when Amelia first went to the pub and was scared of the people out there, or when Amelia bunked her college classes.
Amelia could not remember a single moment of her life when she was without Oliver.
He was more than a boyfriend to her; he was her best friend also. He was her pillar of support and ray of hope.
And today, he broke each and every emotion and feeling of her, without any guilt. Amelia could not understand why she missed him to do this to her.
Amelia could not sleep. So she decided that she needed to calm down and got up, dressed in her skinny jeans and black halter neck top, the one that was gifted by Oliver on her 20th birthday took the car keys from the drawer and left her flat. She also took her iPhone; which was also a gift from Oliver on her last birthday and once again the wave of memories hit her like an arrow. She threw the phone on the wall and left her flat, not bothering to lock it.
'I don't know where I am going, but all / know is I don't want to see Oliver's face again. How could he do this to me, how could he leave me just like that? Loved him, and he did, too. We spent our entire lives together till now and today he tells me he is bored of me. Bored of my love and care! To hell with him, I won't ever talk to him again.' Amelia was thinking furiously in her head. She wasn't crying anymore, she was fuming with anger.
Amelia had been so angry that she could not see the huge truck looming in front of her, dashing towards her at full speed, and before she could realize it, it was dark and quiet.
She felt numb for a few moments, and then the pain started. First her head, then her hands, and then her legs. She could not move, and could not see clearly. She felt some warm liquid running through her hands and back, and she realized, it was her own blood.
'Someone h..e..1..p; she could not even speak, let alone move. She was losing consciousness and now her only hope was God himself.
After a long time, someone passed that way. She could hear the sound of tires screeching near her, and footsteps approaching. She wanted to call for help, but could not. She was exhausted. Then she felt someone pulling her out of the car. 'Ouch! That hurts: she said angrily, but the words never formed.
Someone was splashing water on her face, and she realized, she was thirsty. it might have been a long time she was lying there. And then she felt two strong and warm hands holding her, and all she could think was of Oliver.
If only she could see him once, she would say that she still loves him. She wants to be with him. Someone shook her, and she thought it was her Oliver.
She hardly opened her eyes and saw a hazy image of someone in front of her. Oliver is back, he is with me. I knew he couldn't leave me alone: she thought. Just then she called his name, and the world turned dark.
Race Against Time
Amelia's car lies mangled and twisted, its metal frame crushed by the impact of the truck. Smoke rises from the wreckage, mingling with the dusk sky. Debris litters the asphalt, scattered remnants of what was once a vehicle now torn apart by the force of the collision.
Luckily, Dr. Ethan had just finished his shift at the hospital and was heading home to get some much-needed rest when he came upon the accident scene. He got down and rushed towards the spot, and was shocked to see a girl in the car, half-conscious, bleeding and stuck. A low groan coming from her indicated that she was still breathing but needed immediate care.
He immediately rushed and removed her from the car with great difficulty. He sensed her pulse; it was weak, but running. She had lost a good amount of blood. He tried to open her eyes, tapped her face, and splattered water on her face. She half opened her eyes with difficulty, hazy and disoriented, and said one word 'Aarav; and passed out.
