Chapter 1: Olivia
Olivia sat with her hands tightly clasped in her lap in the stark white hospital room. Abigail, her stepmother, was standing in front of her with a desperate expression on her face.
Olivia had been courted by wealthy businessman Edward Benjamin for several months, and her stepmother's only option was to marry them off.
Abigail said, her voice trembling, "Olivia, I know this is difficult, but we have to do something."
"Your stepsister requires immediate surgery, but we lack the funds to cover the cost. Only marrying Edward Benjamin will work.
Olivia's shocked eyes widened. She gasped, "Marrying Edward?" "How could you possibly have thought of such a thing? That is crazy.
Abigail glared at Olivia, her eyes becoming more narrow. You don't get it, she yelled.
"We are without other options. Your step-sister will perish if we can't find the money for the surgery, Do you want that? She went on….
Do you wish to lose her in the same manner that your father was lost? In exchange for him paying for the procedure, you must get married to him.
Olivia jerked back as the words struck her like a blow to the body. Several years before, her father had perished in a car accident, and the wounds were still raw.
The prospect of losing her step-sister was too great to bear, even though she was aware that her stepmother was trying to manipulate her. She was unable to bear the idea of losing Victoria as well.
She winced at Abigail's words, flashing back to her father's tragic passing. The corners of her eyes pricked up as she shook her head, crying.
She replied, "Of course not, not at all. But how on earth do you expect me to marry a man I don't even love? I've never even met him.
Abigail sighed loudly, her features a little softer. She acknowledged that it was a lot to ask of Olivia and said, “But occasionally in life, we have to give up something for the people we care about.”
“If getting married to Edward is what it takes to save your step-sister from needing this surgery, then that is what we must do.”
Olivia slumped on her back and hung her head low. They had no other choices, and she knew her stepmother was right. But she felt queasy at the thought of getting married to a man she hardly knew in order to save her stepsister's life.
Her stepmother sighed deeply. We won't be able to repay Edward, not even after working for ten years. He has made it abundantly clear that he is only interested in you. And I accepted his conditions.
Olivia's mouth dropped open in shock…”Before even telling me, you agreed,” “How could you consent to this without first seeking my approval?’
With a hurt expression, her stepmother apologized to Olivia. "I don’t have a choice, the only way to save Victoria's life is through this.”
Olivia noticed tears starting to form in her eyes. As she heard approaching footsteps, she wiped away her tears. She quickly collected herself because she didn't want to look frail in front of Edward.
Edward entered the room and immediately noticed Olivia by admiring her beauty. He experienced a rush of desire because of the way she stood out with her long hair and fair skin.
He struggled mightily to control his emotions at that precise moment. As he walked up to Olivia, Edward said, "Good evening, Olivia."
Olivia returned his smile with a shaky expression, unsure of how to feel about the man who would soon become her husband.
Edward turned to her stepmother, "I will send for the driver to pick you up tomorrow for our wedding." For my bride, I want everything to be ideal.”
Olivia's shocked eyes widened. She wasn't prepared for everything because it was happening so quickly.
"Why so soon?" Olivia questioned while visibly shaking.
She began to ask a question, but her stepmother cut her off. There's no issue, she said with a firm, icy tone in her voice.
Realizing there was no going back, Olivia's heart sank.
Edward continued to take in every aspect of Olivia's appearance as he closely inspected her. Are you a virgin? He suddenly asked, turning to face her.
With hunger in his eyes, he questioned Olivia, making her uncomfortable at the question.
Olivia experienced a sudden wave of disgust and shock. She tried to make sense of the situation while looking down and stuttering erratically. Her stepmother's mouth stayed open as her eyes widened in shock.
But Edward wasn't satisfied with her silence. He extended a hand and lifted Olivia's chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. He said firmly, "Look at me when I ask you a question.”
Please respond, Olivia. He re-asked. “Are you still a virgin?”
Olivia began to feel uneasy and perplexed, but she took a deep breath. Is that question really necessary? She mumbled.
Edward firmly nodded. He responded without offering any remorse, "Yes, it is necessary.
Despite her discomfort, Olivia followed his instructions. She responded after taking a deep breath.
"I’m still a virgin, yes." She spoke in a whisper, barely audible.
Edward's face was expressionless, but Olivia could see a glint of satisfaction in his eyes.
His question made her feel violated and exposed.
Olivia's response pleased him. His eyes glowed with desire as he smiled at her.
"All right," he said. "I prefer my women to be pure."
A shiver ran down Olivia's spine. She couldn't believe she was going to marry such a man. She didn't know what her future held for her, but she knew she didn't want it to be with him.
Edward finally let go of Olivia's chin, breaking eye contact with her. He took a step back and gazed at her once more.
"You look lovely," he said, smiling. "I had no idea I could get you. Money truly does solve all problems."
Olivia was unsettled. She didn't know what to say in response. She felt like a trophy being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
She mustered the courage to thank him for covering Victoria's surgery expenses, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything else. She didn't want to inspire him or give him the wrong impression.
But Edward didn't seem to mind. He returned his gaze to her, his eyes glowed with desire.
"I'll do anything to have you in my palms," he said as he approached her.
She couldn't believe she wants to end up with a Casanova.
Chapter 2: Wedding Night
On their wedding night, Olivia trembled with fear. She looked at Edward, perplexed, as he ordered her to strip. She had anticipated it, but not this soon.
"What do you mean?" she asked with a shaky voice.
Edward gave her a cold stare, his eyes steely and calculating.
"I mean exactly what I said," he said flatly. "Take your clothes off."
A wave of panic washed over Olivia. She had never expected him to be so especially so soon after their marriage. She even thought he sounded so condescending that she was just a prostitute he paid for.
She stumbled, her hands shaking at her sides, "I... I don't understand."
“I am your husband, and as such, I have certain expectations, so listen to me, Olivia.”
“You are here to please me because you are my wife, I want you to follow my orders without question. Only doing as I say is all I ask of you. Now, remove your clothing.”, Edward said with a commanding tone.
