Chapter 1

Hestia's POV

I'm currently sitting on the sofa with my laptop. I'm catching up on the pending reports I haven't completed in the last several days.

When I heard my small daughter's joyful cry and her noisy footsteps walking down the stairs, I turned to look at the stairs. I smiled and set the laptop on the center table before standing up and greeting him, who hugged me warmly. I can see the joy in his eyes.

"Mommy, take a look!" He smiled at me and showed me the email that notified her on her phone. It was an email from the Dwayne Ramirez Lee Advertising Company, the country's leading advertising firm.

My kid had a strong desire to do an internship at this company and to be hired by it. Who hasn't fantasized about entering this kind of company? Almost everyone wanted to work for this company.

Jania's study is a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing, which qualified her for employment in an advertising firm. She is a 21-year-old graduate student.

I watched her as she read the email in which she said she had passed the initial interview for the internship and that the final interview was the next day.

It was like she was a young woman when I was crushing on her. I got pregnant at eighteen. I assumed her father would be there for me forever, but he never held me accountable. I had many relationships in the past, but they all ended in failure, so I became frustrated.

Right now, I am 39 years old, and I never dreamed of meeting a man to be with for the rest of my life, so I felt I was too old to date. I am pleased with my daughter and my job.

"Mom."

"Yes, baby?" I replied with a smile.

"Mom, you're spacing out. I inquired if you were available tomorrow because I wanted you to accompany me."

"Please give me a lucky charm. Please provide me with a calming voice." She gave me puppy eyes.

We were both off work at that time because it was Sunday. My daughter and I connect on a weekday. She grabbed both of my arms and guided me to the sofa, putting her head on my shoulder.

"You won't be mistaken for a mommy's girl when I accompany you tomorrow?" I inquired, and she stomped her foot and tightened her grasp on the arm even more. It sometimes behaved like a child.

"I'll be right there with you, Mom. I'm too worried, and it's best if you're there so that if I fail the final interview, I can at least hug you straight away." She exclaimed loudly, "Turn me around."

"As for the mommy's girl thing, I don't care because I'm not ashamed to admit that I am a mommy's girl," she said.

"I'll be happy," she added.

I grinned, released her grip, grabbed both of her cheeks, and held her back.

"Can you please think positively? I'm confident you can do it." I say this with love since she is everything to me. When I realized I could withstand the punches of life because of her, I believed I'd never be able to get back up.

"Will you come with me?" she inquired.

"Of course, I'll go with my baby." I cheerfully replied.

"I'll just email our company's HR later to let them know I'm going on leave tomorrow."

My daughter is my top focus.

"Yes! Thank you so much, Mom. You're the greatest!" She said it cheerfully, kissed my cheek, and dashed upstairs again.

I merely shook my head; perhaps she hadn't had a lover because she's too clingy to me. I'm not limiting it in such ways if I'm merely reminding it of its own constraints. But she had no intention of getting a boyfriend, which I like.

The next morning, I got up early to make breakfast for my daughter and me. I served her favorite tuna sandwich and pancakes with strawberry syrup.

"Good morning." I greeted her as she entered the kitchen, and she sat down, pulling a chair from the table.

"Good morning, Mom." She greeted me with a listless voice. When she first woke up, she appeared to be grumpy, but after a wash, she became animated.

"Eat something and prepare for your interview later." I spoke.

After that, I placed the meal on the table.

"Thanks, Mom." She spoke in hushed tones. I simply shook my head.

We left the house as soon as we finished our morning ritual because we might encounter traffic on the way. We arrived at the Dwayne Ramirez Lee Advertising Company's big headquarters at exactly eight o'clock in the morning.

Jania's interview began at nine a.m., so we still had time to chat and prepare for the question-and-answer session. I parked the car in the building's large parking lot. She came to a complete stop in front of the lobby entrance. There are two entrances: one in the front and one in the back, where the parking space lies.

"Go inside; I'll follow." I spoke.

I'll continue to seek a parking spot for my car.

"I'll meet you in the lounge area." She stated this before kissing me on the cheek and exiting the car.

I revived the automobile engine again, looking for a parking spot. While driving slowly, I looked around. I didn't expect the parking lot to be nearly full right away because we arrived early.

I turned the steering wheel in reverse to turn when I spotted a space at the end, but my eyes opened as I heard a loud boom from the back of the car. I must have backed up, or it has hit me.

I carefully closed my eyes since I analyzed it was my fault.

Then, when I got the results of my checkup, I was in a bind and didn't know what to do.

When I left the hospital, it filled my chest with fear. I bit my lower lip and walked to the rear, and that was the end. I backed up the Porsche insignia on the front of the automobile.

Fear grabbed my chest since the front of the automobile was substantially damaged and repairing it would cost me much of my funds. True, I have a lot of money because I saved all of Sir Eluardo's income, but instead of conserving what he paid my mother, I'm going to use up my therapy.

The glass of the Porsche trademark car was tinted, making it nearly impossible to see who was driving. I'm still waiting for it to come down. I put both hands on my hips and thought about how much I could pay for the damage.

Because someone approached me, I didn't notice the owner of the car was already out, which surprised me, especially when I heard his rich voice.

"Are you feeling okay?" His voice is deep and husky—the sound that makes you fall in love instantly—and something inside of me awakened.

"Huh?" my manners asked. When I approached the man who owned the car, I felt out of place.

I stared at it for the duration.

My God! He appeared to be a Greek god, exceedingly beautiful and good-looking. His tuxedo did not hide his great physical form.

Then it appeared to be in its 30s and was clearly a six-footer. I looked up as he took a step closer to me.

"I said, if you're okay." He softly restated what he had previously said. I cleared an obstruction in my throat.

"Yes, I'm fine." I had a couple ideas for him. I couldn't even look him in the eyes because staring at him might feel like piercing my bone.

I'm transported back to my childhood. But isn't there anything wrong with adoring a man? That's right, nothing but admiration.

"You're looking pale. Are you an employee here?" he asked, then repeated himself.

I bit my bottom lip once more, but this time a man made me nervous.

"I'm not an employee here, and I apologize for backing up in front of your car."

"I'll just repair it and pay for the damage," he added.

"No need."

The words I’m speaking chopped off. Why does he have such a powerful voice, as if you want him to speak?

His husky voice can dampen panties. I wanted to slap myself because I'm thinking about something.

"What do you mean?" I questioned after recovering from the shock of his handsomeness.

"You don't need to pay the damage; it's my fault too."

I took a big breath and looked at my watch.

"I'm sorry, I have to go." I immediately said goodbye so I wouldn't be too obvious.

"If you change your mind, I will give you my calling card." I told him in a shy voice, I really don't have any payment, but I mustered up my courage to meet him. It's good that Cheska did something like that, someone can really help.

The way he looked at me as I approached him again surprised me. I'm a maid, so I'm not very used to this. I thought the big boss was the most handsome man, but it seemed like he had a powerful pull on me. I had never felt this strange feeling of wanting to break into a cold sweat just because of the stare of the man in front of me now.

"Here's my calling card. If you change your mind, you can contact me at this number," I added as I grabbed the calling card. I attempted to be professional and disguise the desire I felt in front of me.

He raised his hand and grabbed the calling card I gave him. My heartbeat abruptly speed up when his hand smacked my palm as if on purpose. I felt thousands of volts of electricity suddenly surge through my veins only because of the brief and simple contact of our palms.

And because of that, I glanced at his lovely face. His face was familiar to me, but I couldn't recall where I saw him. I smiled a couple times at the man, then I glanced away. If there is still a contest for the staring challenge, maybe this guy is already in it because it's bad to gaze.

"I won't change my mind, but thank you for this," he remarked, then held up the calling card he was handed.

"I can use it for personal purposes." My two eyebrows met at what he said, but I didn't pay attention because I needed to leave.

"My gosh! What is wrong with that man?" I said to myself when I left and ran inside the building.

I immediately walked to the lounge area, where staff or guests normally hang around. It's the second time I've entered this building, the first time was when Sir Eluardo had a meeting here, and I followed him to meet the customer.

I'm the baffling one who thinks like this after knowing about my sickness. Anyway, the doctor recommended getting a second opinion to be sure.

Just thinking about that would drive me nuts. It's up to you. What's the problem with this man?

I've been sitting there for about an hour with my thoughts drifting, and instead of my agony, I could only think of that man trying to squeeze my mind. After all, it may prevent the doctor from claiming that it is treatable in the morning.

Chapter 2

Dwayne's POV

I instantly got upset when the car in front of me backed up. I stopped the car for a bit because the cellphone rang. I thought that the car in front of me was driving straight, but it was going back.

"Damn it!"

I just acquired this new Porsche last week; I'm shaking my head. I read my secretary's email that notified me on my smartphone. It is stated that all individuals who applied for an internship at my company and passed the initial interview last week are now ready for the final interview.

I'm just Dwayne Ramirez Lee, the 27-year-old CEO of this enormous advertising company. Eight years ago, my father passed on being the chairwoman of the company when he retired.

I took a big breath and put the cellphone back in my jeans pocket. I looked at the front, and my mouth gaped as I saw a lovely woman standing in front of the car, biting her lip, and checking the damage to the two cars.

I gazed at the woman w
