Annotation

For ten million dollars, Juris Escolta, a desperate woman in need of cash, was hired and told she could not tell anyone she was pregnant by Marco Dela Vega, a wealthy heir, who had always been accustomed to having everything he desired. However, there was one thing that eluded him—the approval of his grandfather to inherit the Dela Vega conglomerate. Marco had always been a dutiful grandson, but there was one desire he could never fulfil for his grandfather: to bless him with a precious great-grandson. In response to his grandfather's persistent prodding, Marco devised a plan to fulfill his grandfather's demand. Marco had to hire a woman to marry and become a surrogate mother to secretly carry his heir and finally earn his grandfather’s approval. But when the truth came out about the pregnancy, Juris and the baby she was carrying were put in danger. Juris had to flee to ensure her own well-being and the safety of her child, especially after discovering that the person behind the threat to her life was none other than Marco.

Chapter 1

As I sink into the luxurious embrace of the soft bed, my body finds tranquility in its embrace. All the while, the clothes I wore were strewn across the floor.

Lying against the bed, my bare skin was marked with a myriad of intense imprints from him. The sensation of my legs, still moist, served as a gentle reminder of the intense connection we had just experienced.

The silky strands of my dark hair flowed down my petite figure, radiating an aura of grace and refinement. All for his eyes. Despite my outward composure, his mere presence never fails to ignite a thrilling sensation within me.

"What's the matter, Juris?"

A strong embrace encircled my slender waist from behind. His rough touch sent shivers down my spine as he expertly reached down.

I could not help but fall head over heels for Marco every time he lovingly called me by my name, especially when he softly murmured it in my ear. It seemed incredibly captivating, causing my heart to skip a beat.

Marco's eyes fluttered open, taking in the sight of my body. Yet, his hands continued to move without pause. He exuded an undeniable charm that was impossible to resist.

I twirled around, my face flushed with a hint of pink. Marco had always possessed a remarkable prowess in the realm of passion. There was an undeniable spark between us, an electric current that pulsed through the air.

We would only take breaks when both of us were utterly exhausted.

I held Marco's hand tightly, my face adorned with an expression of pure innocence. "Marco, please reconsider our situation. I do not want to go through with the divorce." I finally had the courage told him.

How do I have more courage to tell him that, in spite of the three months that we’re together, I have already fallen for him?

As my words reached his ears, Marco's hand came to a sudden halt and the passion in his gaze gradually diminished. His voice, with a hint of raspiness, exuded a calming charm.

“We’ve already talked about this, Juris. I hope you have not forgotten that the reason why we’re married was for you to give me and heir that my grandpa has been requiring of me.”

“I know that but—”

“And I hope it’s still fresh in your mind how much I have to pay you for this contract.”

I was reminded once more that this marriage and the pregnancy I must accomplish was already paid off with ten million dollars.

“Marco, I—” I just about to tell Marco that I was beginning to love him for real, however, he instantly cut me off.

"Juris, you are quite obedient, aren't you? Why are you suddenly becoming stubborn now? We’re not going to discuss this any further. I don’t want to keep telling you about the contract. Besides, you can’t love me either. It’s written on the contract. And even if it’s not, you still can’t love me because you’d just waste your feelings for me because I already love someone else.”

"Daphne.” I uttered, very silently.

“You saying something?”

“Uh, I mean, Daphne has returned, you know." I responded back.

“Of course, I am well aware.”

Daphne was the woman Marco longed for but could never have.

Had Daphne not been the illegitimate daughter of the distinguished Samson family, and if Don Enrique of the Dela Vega's had not set his sights on a better wife for Marco, Daphne might have become Marco’s wife and not me, and perhaps, Marco might not have ended up offering me this contract to begin with.

Contrary to my background, I came from a modest upbringing, with parents who had made a great sacrifice to protect Don Enrique. That's why Marco saw fit to entice me with an offer I couldn't turn down.

He proposed a deal: ten million dollars in exchange for marrying him and becoming a surrogate for him and Daphne's child. However, since Daphne is still undergoing treatment, Marco has decided that I should be the one to get pregnant.

It's a challenging situation, but I must endure it in order to receive the payment. The funds I received from Marco were used to cover the medical expenses for my ailing sister.

In just three short months, I was completely captivated by the enchanting world of the Dela Vega family, and before I knew it, I had become Marco's devoted wife. There was an immediate and undeniable bond between us. However, despite the passing of time, I had never managed to truly capture Marco's heart. From the very beginning, Marco made it abundantly clear to me that his every action was solely intended to please Don Enrique.

"No need to worry," he declared confidently, "as long as you are Mrs. Dela Vega, you can still enjoy all the perks that come with it. You should know, though, that we will be splitting up after you give birth to my heir. "When the time comes, I will give you a large sum of money that will allow you to live comfortably for the rest of your life, but you have to leave the United States forever."

Marco usually exerts a commanding presence over me every time and I always end up being a cowardly rabbit clinging to him. Marco never had any concerns about me being disobedient.

Little did he realize that my motives for marrying him were not driven by wealth. I had only married him out of a profound affection for him. Now, my hopes were on the verge of being crushed.

“I don't wish to be separated from you, Marco.”

“We’re not going to talk about this again, Juris. It will ruin my mood if you continue to be like that.”

Despite three months of kind, thoughtful, and compliant behavior in bed, Marco had not developed romantic feelings for me.

I whispered, "Marco..."

Whenever I spoke Marco's name, my voice exuded a tender and genuine affection.

“Juris, you know that for the time being, I evoked a strong desire in you in order to shield and claim you, ensuring that no one else could lay eyes on you but me alone.” Marco said, shifting the subject.

This instantly left me enamored with him once again, making me completely forget what it was that had been bothering me for a moment.

Marco often found himself captivated by my alluring voice and seductive demeanor, envisioning the intense pleasure he would experience in my presence.

He purposefully disregarded the frustration bubbling within him.

"What is it?" he inquired.

"I... I believe I may be expecting a child, though." I summoned the bravery to speak my mind. This was my final move to hold onto him, hopeful that it would work somehow.

Surprisingly, Marco's face immediately turned serious. "What?! Are you sure?"

And it caused my heart to race as I hesitantly confessed, "Um, I think I'm pregnant. I'm—we’re going to have a baby."

And yet, Marco was just speechless, as though he couldn’t seem to express his thoughts.

My heart was filled with a mix of emotions, and yet I couldn't resist letting out a laugh. "Pfft!" hiding my true emotions.

For some reason, I felt unsatisfied with his reaction. It was like he was not pleased and that he was just trying to be one in front of me. Was it because everything was all just for the contract?

Marco was such a horrible husband and a father-to-be for reacting this way even though everything was just because of the contract we had agreed upon.

"What's so funny?" Marco observed my unpredictable actions with a frustrated expression.

"I was just lying to you in order to prevent our separation," she confessed. My demeanor was calm, yet my heart was filled with sorrow.

"You lied to me?" Marco asked, completely naive of my true feelings.

I gave a slight nod. "Indeed. If you doubt my words, we can always visit the hospital for a thorough examination."

Marco appeared to breathe a sigh of relief. I knew my hunch was right—despite paying me to help him give birth to an heir, he was not thrilled about my pregnancy.

"That's for the best. Juris, If you're going to give birth to a boy, I can offer you an extra hundred million dollars after you leave. You don’t have to think about raising it either because it will grow under my custody. However, as we have agreed upon, the child will eventually acknowledge Daphne as her mother instead.”

“It was written on the contract.” I could only utter.

“Think about this, you being free of all these after, it won't have any impact on you should you plan to have a second marriage."

Second marriage? I thought. I was filled with a sense of resentment hearing those from my very own husband.

And yet, I still mustered a smile. "You don't have to worry about those things yet, Marco. Besides, I was only teasing about the possibility of us having a baby. If you still doubt me, I think we should consider going to the hospital for a check-up, just to address any suspicions you may still have."

Marco rose from the bed, his spirits lifting once more. He embraced me, his hands gently caressing my delicate curves. He inquired about my future plans once their marriage came to an end as he asked, "What do you intend to do after the divorce?"

I then surrendered myself to his embrace, my body molding against his with a tender vulnerability.

"You know, I have always had this burning passion to chase my dreams in the entertainment industry. I’d probably try my luck and become a celebrity."

Chapter 2

I originally obtained a degree in acting, however, I have made the decision to give up on my ambition to work in the entertainment industry after getting married to Marco Dela Vega.

Moreover, exuding an aura of naivety and captivating allure, rumors have reached my ears that I have become the coveted figure in the realm of showbiz.

But of course, Marco preferred to keep his possessions out of the reach of others which was why I couldn't be able to pursue it.

And now that they we're bringing our marriage to a close after I get pregnant and give him a child, I don't think there was any reason for him to continue being so bitter if I chose to become an actress.

"Sure, once the divorce is officially finalized, I'll ensure that Chris lends you a helping hand in entering the industry with greater ease," Marco reassured me. "With your exceptional talents, it won't be long before you achieve widespread recognition as an actress, my
