BOOK ONE: TUTOR MY CRUSH? NO!
BLURB
Jake thought he had finally gotten over Ken, his high school crush, after a painful betrayal left him heartbroken. Now, two years later, he's shocked to find Ken in his university—and even worse, he's been assigned to tutor him.
Jake plans to keep things strictly academic, but Ken isn't the boy he remembers. As old feelings return and the past resurfaces, Jake must decide whether to protect his heart or give his first crush a second chance.

JAKE
Ken's hands froze just inches away from his face, his green eyes locked onto mine with a look of disbelief. His hair was tousled, resembling a nest resting on top of his head.
I felt as though I were rooted to the ground, unable to look away from him, clinging to the hope that this was just a figment of my imagination. That there was absolutely no way Ken was right in front of me, shirtless.
“I told you the tutor is coming over, why the hell are you almost naked?" The tutor agent huffed, before he turned to me, "This is Ken, my friend. The one you'll be tutoring for two months.” he gestured at Ken.
I stood still as it dawned on me that this wasn't a dream. It was reality.
The tutor agent then turned to Ken, “remember the guy I said would be tutoring you? This is him.”
Ken and I held each other's gaze for a few moments until Ken slowly lowered his hands, letting them fall to his sides. A slight smile crept onto his lips. “Hmm, what was his name again?” he asked, while maintaining eye contact with me.
“Jake...?” the tutor agent answered, eyes going back and forth between Ken and I.
“Ah, Jake. Long time no see,” he said in a laid-back tone, the corners of his lips tugged slightly.
“Uh, do you two know each other?” the tutor agent asked, head tilted in confusion.
“Are you not the—”
“Um, I’ve got somewhere I need to be." I rushed out to the agent in particular. "Sorry, I’ll just text you when I’m free. I'm really sorry about this." I said, not waiting for his reply before bolting out of there.
I rushed into my apartment which was next door, before closing and leaning against the door. I released the breath I didn't realize I had held.
“That was quick,” I heard Clark, my friend, say. She sat on the small couch, head turned to my direction, “Are you alright?” She must have noticed my expression.
Honestly, I wasn't sure of the expression I had on my face, but with the way memories I had long buried rushed back, I knew it was one that warranted the concern that had seeped out of her voice.
“Ken,” I began.
“Huh?”
"The tutoring gig I got..." I slowly breathe in and out, "Ken is the guy I'm supposed to tutor." I said, taking my weight off the door and standing still.
"Don't tell me it's that Ken," Clark's eyes widened, staring at me.
"Yes and even worse, he's the new neighbor who just moved next door."
"No way!” she dropped her phone, staring wide eyed.
I walked in a dazed motion to the couch, sitting on it and then glueing my eyes on the TV, not even bothering to register what was being shown on it.
She shifted to face me directly. "How— what— how did he get here?" She then drew back, "well it's a university but still! What are the odds?"
"Ken lives next door..." I say slowly, as if saying it out loud would make the reality of things register more than it already was.
"This is too.... I don't know, cliche? How the hell is your highschool crush living next door and you're his tutor?"
I exhaled deeply, leaning back against the cushions. “This can’t be real.”
“Just act like nothing happened. I mean, it's not like anything big actually happened, right?”
“It’s going to be super awkward and just....ugh! I really don’t want to handle this,” I said, burying my face in my hands.
“Right, with the tutoring situation. But you can just decline, I mean, it's not by force, right?
I lowered my hands and turned to her, “The money is by force, Clark. You know I need the money!"
“Well just act like nothing happened!" She rushed out as if put on a hot seat, "You know, pretend there’s no past, especially since there’s not much to pretend about.”
I straightened up. “You’re right. I should just act like it’s all fine. I’ll ask Samson to tutor him instead then split the money. I get to be paid and he is still tutored. Everyone ends up being happy." I turned my gloomy frown into a hopeful one at the idea.
“I doubt Samson would want to tutor Ken, you know he has his finals in two weeks.” she said, bursting my bubble.
The frown came back, “I'll figure something out. Anything to avoid him,” I declared, rising to my feet.
"I'll look for tutors too on my end." She said, picking up her phone.
I sighed, hanging my head low, “I’ll be inside if you need anything.” already making my way to my room. The soft click of my room door shutting, made me raise my head with another sigh. I dragged my feet to my bed, falling flat on my face before turning on my back and staring at the ceiling. All the memories came flooding back.
Ken.
The green-eyed boy I had a crush on back in high school. The same boy I caught giving a handjob to my friend, Jess.
Chapter 2
I used to have a huge crush on Ken back in highschool. We were in different classes but same year. Ken was very popular among both boys and girls. So popular that he would have confessions every two working days. The reason why there was a day in between was because people would take a day to work on their confession letter once someone gets rejected.
Ken was that popular in the dating scene.
Ken was undeniably attractive, he stood taller, way taller than I was and had a charming smile that captivated me. I had always found myself lost in those green eyes of his. He was my first male crush, more like my gay awakening. My crush was so huge that I would sneak to the back of the class and stare at him through the windows. Or sometimes, pay a small amount to a boy who would switch classes with me for some hours. All so I could stare at Ken.
He rarely interacted with his classmates though, only talking with his friend, Dan. I often wondered the reason behind this, but I
