Chapter 1 : The unforeseen encounter
I was supposed to be celebrating my recent promotion at the nightclub, "Eclipse." But as I sipped my drink, I began to feel a strange, creeping fog in my mind. My male colleague, Alex, had offered to buy me a drink, and I had accepted, trusting him as a friend. Now, I realized my mistake.
As my vision blurred, I felt myself being pulled into a private room. I tried to struggle, but my body felt heavy and unresponsive. Alex and our boss, Mr. Johnson, were laughing, their faces twisted in cruel grins.
Just as they were about to carry out their sinister plans, the door burst open, and a towering figure loomed in the entrance. Lucas Ryder, CEO of Ryder Company, stood tall, his piercing gaze sweeping the room. His eyes locked onto me, and he strode towards me with purpose.
"What's going on here?" Lucas demanded, his voice low and commanding.
Alex and Mr. Johnson cowered in fear, releasing their hold on me. "We were just... uh... trying to help her," Alex stuttered.
Lucas's gaze narrowed. "I think you've had enough excitement for tonight. I'll take her now."
Without another word, he scooped me into his arms and carried me out of the club. As we emerged into the cool night air, I felt a strange sense of safety in his embrace.
"Who are you?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"I'm Lucas Ryder," he replied, his voice gentle. "And you are?"
I tried to remember, but my mind was still foggy. "I... I think I'm Maya."
Lucas's eyes gleamed in the moonlight. "You're safe now, Maya. I won't let anyone hurt you."
As we walked, I felt a strange attraction to this mysterious stranger. I couldn't explain it, but I felt drawn to him, like a moth to flame.
"So, Maya," Lucas said, his voice low and husky. "Tell me about yourself."
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But there was something about Lucas that put me at ease.
"I'm a marketing manager," I said. "I work for a small firm in the city."
Lucas nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "And what do you like to do in your free time?"
I shrugged. "I like to read, watch movies. Nothing too exciting."
Lucas smiled. "I think you're more exciting than you give yourself credit for, Maya."
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as he gazed at me. There was something intense about his stare, something that made me feel like he could see right through me.
As we arrived at Lucas's penthouse apartment, I felt a sense of awe at the luxurious surroundings. Lucas gently placed me on the couch, where I lay back, still trying to clear my foggy mind.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Lucas asked, his eyes never leaving mine.
I nodded, my throat dry. "Water, please."
Lucas disappeared into the kitchen, returning with a glass of ice-cold water. I sipped it gratefully, feeling my senses slowly return.
"Thank you," I said, my voice still weak.
Lucas sat beside me, his presence both calming and unnerving. "What happened tonight, Maya? Who were those men?"
My memories began to return, and I shuddered. "They were my colleagues. Alex and Mr. Johnson. They... they drugged me."
Lucas's expression darkened. "I'll take care of them. No one hurts you and gets away with it."
I felt a surge of gratitude towards this stranger who had saved me. "Why are you helping me?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.
Lucas's eyes seemed to bore into my soul. "I don't know," he admitted. "But I couldn't just stand by and watch them hurt you. There's something about you, Maya... something that draws me in."
My heart skipped a beat as our eyes locked. I felt that same attraction, that same pull towards him.
As the night wore on, I found myself opening up to Lucas in ways I never thought possible. I told him about my job, my dreams, my fears. Lucas listened intently, his eyes never leaving mine.
And when the sun began to rise, casting a golden glow over the city, Lucas stood up, his movements fluid and powerful.
"You should rest," he said, his voice low and husky. "You're safe here, Maya. I promise."
I nodded, feeling a sense of trust wash over me. I knew I should be afraid, but I wasn't. I felt safe with Lucas Ryder.
As I drifted off to sleep, I knew that my life would never be the same again. I had caught the attention of a powerful and mysterious stranger, and I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead.
Laughter echoed through the room, and I felt a sense of belonging I'd never experienced before. Lucas's eyes sparkled with amusement, and I couldn't help but smile.
"You're incredible, Maya," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I've never met anyone like you."
I blushed, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Thanks, Lucas. You're pretty amazing yourself."
Lucas's gaze locked onto mine, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body. "I'm glad you think so," he said, his voice low and husky.
As the day wore on, Lucas revealed more about his world, a world of supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. I listened, entranced, my mind expanding with the possibilities.
"And what about you, Lucas?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me. "What's your story?"
Lucas's expression turned serious, and he leaned back in his chair. "I've lived for centuries, Maya. I've seen empires rise and fall, and I've walked among gods and monsters."
I gasped, my mind reeling with the implications. "What are you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas smiled, his fangs glinting in the light. "I'm a vampire, Maya. A creature of the night."
I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I wasn't afraid. I was fascinated.
"And what do you want from me, Lucas?" I asked, my voice steady.
Lucas's eyes burned with intensity. "I want to help you unlock your true potential, Maya. I want to show you the world that lies beyond the veil."
I hesitated, unsure of what lay ahead. But as I looked into Lucas's eyes, I knew that I had no choice. I was in this now, for better or for worse.
"Yes," I said, my voice firm. "I'm ready."
Lucas smiled, his fangs glinting in the light. "Welcome to the world of the supernatural, Maya. You'll never be the same again."
Chapter 2 : Maya
“Y.. you sent for me” I said, breaking the silence between us. Mr Jared was busy working on his MacBook while he'd taken his attention off me. I knew that he was only testing me. He wanted me to ask the question so I did.
“I did request to see you, Maya. I have an important task for you to carry out” he announced. Even though he was yet to say what it was, I could already guess.
Mr Jared wanted me to do a private dance for a client.
“I have an important guest coming to the clubhouse tonight and I want you to show him your impeccable dancing skills. I want you to entertain him” He stated.
My legs stiffened, I could feel my adrenaline rushing. At least, Ella was right, he didn't ask me about the money I was owing. I took in a deep breath and sighed.
“I will do it,” I responded.
“You must do it, Maya. It is compulsory that you do. I wasn't asking you for a favor in the first place” he said.
