The Alpha's King Regret: Return of the Exiled Mate

CHAPTER 1

Addy sat across the table in the office looking down at her hands which was covered in blood. She was shaking slightly, not that she noticed it, but anyone else who gave a good look at her would know that she was scared out of her mind. She knew that she was done for. How did her life get so wrong?

Shaking her head, she stopped the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes as she took a deep breath and exhaled. Right outside the door she could hear her brother Danny shouting.

“You have to let me in. I have to see her. She is my sister. You can’t keep me locked up here. She needs me.”

Addy cried as she heard the despairing words of her brother, Oh if only she hadn’t struck, if she had held back her anger, if she had done something else and allowed what was supposed to happen, happened… She wouldn’t be causing herself this pain, neither would she be causing the people that loved her. She was cursed, since birth and this was just one of the many incidences that proved her right. If only she had yielded.

But it wasn’t her fault, she was a primary Omega which meant that being rude, sassy, obnoxious and daring was in the job description, she didn’t exactly had a choice in the situation. It was her personality, that was what endeared Alpha Kristen to her in the first place… well a long time ago, before she attempted to murder his mate in cold blood. It was self defense but she knew nobody was going to see it that way,

She was going to be hanged and she never even got a chance to tell the Alpha that she was pregnant with his kids. Sure demoting her to a concubine/servant after he found his mate was bearable, but the ordeals she had been through, it was either he had no love for her, where did it go? All the promises, they made to each other, it was all a lie. Nothing was real, Kristen never loved her, he only used her as a f*ck toy till he got his true mate. It wasn’t supposed to hurt but it did and there was nothing she could do about it. That was what Alice had drilled into her mind in one of the torture sessions that they always had privately.

How her wolf whined in pain as it was also restless due to the uneasiness it felt and the tension that seemed to drape around them while she waited for the results. Then the door opened and two guards walked in as she stayed still. It was time. She allowed herself to be dragged to the court where the majority of the pack had already been seated and in the middle stood the five founding fathers who made this pack a reality; The Hales, The Morgans, The Frost, The Leos and The Rogues.

She closed her eyes so that she wouldn’t see the pained looks in her brother’s eyes and worst of all; the hatred in the Alpha’s eyes. She trembled as she could see the hateful glares he shot towards her direction.

“Addy Madison Morgan. You have been summoned before the court and the rest of the pack because you have been charged with high treason. How do you plead?” the old councilor said as Addy looked up for the first time she walked into the room, determination in her eyes as she stared directly at her Alpha, who refused to take his gaze off her, or pretend he wasn’t staring.

“Not guilty!” she said in a clear voice as gasps rang from all sides of the court.

“Really. So you dare call our Alpha Kristen, a liar and his Beta Danny. They were the ones who found you attacking the Luna. Do you insist you didn’t attack them?” the councillor said as Addy glanced at her brother who was shaking his head slowly. She didn’t know what he was trying to tell her and being shackled in silver chains didn’t help as it prevented him from mind linking with her.

“I did… but it wasn’t intentional,” Addy said in a whisper, but everyone heard it and started murmuring.

“I think it was intentional after all. We all know the dirty things you did to entice the Alpha, and you wouldn’t stand for it when you realized that you weren’t going to be his mate, since he found Alice. Yet out of care and kindness he kept you around his family, his wife and his heart because the Alpha was someone who loved everyone and had a big heart, and his mate accepted you and forgave you for all you did. Yet you went behind their backs and attacked the Luna, especially after finding out that she was pregnant with the Alpha child.” The councillor announced as everyone started shouting profanities at Addy. Addy’s eyes grew wide with shock when she realized what the man had just said.

Alice was pregnant with Kristen’s child. She also was pregnant with Kristen child. And from the way that Kristen was unmoved by this announcement, she realized that he knew about his mate pregnancy. That was why he gave her those hateful glares. He had concluded that she knew and was trying to get rid of the competition, and Alphas were very protective of their mates. Her fate was sealed already, she was going to be executed. The life of her kids and herself was on the stake.

“With all the charges put against you, I hereby condemn you t o execu….” The man was caught off as Kristen raised his hands up, and everywhere went silent.

“Do you have anything you like to share with me, Addy?” Kristen said, his voice clear as crystal. For a moment, time stilled as the ex lovers stared into each other's eyes, each waiting for the other to say something. Addy swallowed hard as she tore her gaze from the Alpha and looked away before replying.

“No, Alpha Hale. There is nothing else to say,” she said calling him formally for the first time in her life.

“Very well then. Judgement shall be passed. I, Alpha Kristen Hale, hereby condemns you to...”

Chapter 2: Regret

**** FIVE YEARS LATER****

Alpha Kristen groaned as he fluttered his eyes the next morning. He was a bit disoriented as his mind was slow in rebooting his memories. He finally jerked up when he realized that he had spent the night in his home office again, sleeping on some documents that he had been busy working on the night before. He slowly looked around and saw that it was barely 6 a. m. He usually didn’t sleep much due to the fact that he had insomnia but he noticed recently that he slept well whenever he had nightmares about Addy.

Shaking his head, he tried to get rid of the dread that settled in the bottom of his stomach every time he thought about her. There was no use wallowing in the past.
