Doctor of Darkness 1 - Cold as Ice Reviews
Candace Elaine Edwards-Foreman
The book is good, excellent, exciting, paranormal, and a page turner. The main character's such as Vlad, Marcus, Dragen and the doc show famil, romantic tendencies between the doc, Dragen & Vlad. The erotica is off the chain. I will continue to read all three of these series until the last page. Wonderful book author keep up the good work. ViCi crazy here she is nymph. Lici thank goodness she's out of the coma and cure she's a water nymph.

Good book! Interesting characters with lots of twists and turns in their back stories. Some characters you really get to love through the book, especially the more you learn of them. Some are a riot and really fun! The story was interesting and the plot was pretty solid throughout the book. The ending has left me wanting to know what happens next and what is in store for the characters in the next book. Fun!

I like the mix of doctor, the supernatural (especially vampires), espionage, Japanese clans and police work for vampires. I also like the "mate bond for vampires" and the way it is depicted in this book as something nobody, especially the vampire himself, understands. I also think that the main character is badass, but the way she got screwed over by a relatively small group of people when she nearly died, makes her look a bit incompetent, I wish they would write her fights in a way that was more epic.

Doctor of Ice-Cold as Ice is not a book that asks to be liked. It holds its distance, much like its central figure, and invites the reader to step closer at their own risk. The title itself feels like a warning, and the text follows through on that promise. Claudia Pohl presents a character shaped by emotional restraint and authority, but the real tension lies not in what is done, rather in what is withheld. The doctor’s “coldness” is not exaggerated or theatrical; it is precise, controlled, and unsettling in its normality. This makes the narrative more disturbing than dramatic—because it feels plausible. What makes the book compelling is how it explores power without openly naming it. Control operates quietly: through silence, professional distance, and calculated interactions. Pohl does not moralise or guide the reader toward a clear judgment. Instead, she allows discomfort to do the work. As a reader, you are left to decide where professionalism ends and emotional detachment becomes something more dangerous. The prose is restrained, almost clinical at times, mirroring the mindset of its subject. This stylistic choice reinforces the emotional atmosphere of the book. There are moments when the lack of warmth feels intentional, forcing the reader to sit with unease rather than escape it. Doctor of Ice-Cold as Ice is not a comforting read. It does not offer resolution in the traditional sense, nor does it attempt to redeem its characters. What it offers instead is a sharp examination of emotional distance, authority, and the quiet damage caused by indifference. This is a book for readers who are willing to engage with ambiguity and discomfort—those who understand that not all stories exist to soothe, and not all characters are meant to be understood. I loved reading this book alot

Parts were a bit hard to follow. I almost wish I could have seen Selena and the guys fighting all those goals. I really liked when Dragan was seeing her life. I can imagine it was soooo much more than her telling of it. Nobody wants someone else to see that and it's true gory details. The ending was quite a twist; can't wait to read volume 2. I'm not sure if it was someone we've already met in the story or somebody completely new.

Doctor of darkness is a really good read, also well written - which matters to me. The underlying stories of Selena and Dragan along with Marcus, Clad, Vici and the staff and Kynell. Keep you interested. The pace is excellent, the right balance between the sexual and relationship growth of Selena and Dragan. But also the back story of the Ghouls and involvement of the Japanese clans. Theo’s seems also well researched. I am hooked and can’t wait until the whole story is revealed !

A very enjoyable read. The characters are interesting and there is a wider variety of creatures than I usually find in a novel. It's good to see different ethnicities and cultures for a change, as well. I think it might be translated, or English isn't the author's first language, because there were a few mistakes (I often find that these app novels could do with a bit more proof reading). But the story is great and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I'm enjoying this book and finding it interesting. This is my first vampire book as most of the novels I've read recently are more about warewolves. I feel like Selena probably has some supernatural abilities that haven't been unlocked yet so will be interesting to see how it develops. She is an interesting character, and behaviour is slightly odd, even though she is just human and that's why I think there is more to her then what is revealed so far. I will see how it all unfolds soon enough!

I really love when a novel that allows you to get to know the characters. I want to know about their lives. We had a quick view of Dragan's past and now can't wait to know why Selena has blood on her hands. I would like to see her use her swords and be healed so that she no longer screams in her sleep. It continues to hold my interest and keeps me from other tasks. Excellent job so far.

I'm enjoying the novel a great deal. I like that the chapters are a decent length and the author has something happening in each chapter. I especially like that the author doesn't mess around with silly little scenes about nothing in particular,or focus too heavily on the love scenes. All the characters are fascinating and i would love to dive deeper into the backgrounds of each one-a book for each maybe! Great novel and I will be reading book 2 as soon as I finish this.
