Sinossi

She was the pack princess. He was her fated mate. On the Blood Moon, he rejected her in front of everyone and claimed her sister instead. Stripped of her title, beaten, and left to die in the rogue wastes, Lyra should have died that night. Instead, something ancient woke inside her. Now she carries a secret that could destroy them all: she is pregnant with the Alpha who discarded her. Found half-dead by Kasian, the merciless Lycan Despot who rules the empire with ice and blood, Lyra becomes his most dangerous prize. He does not offer comfort. He offers power. In exchange, he demands complete surrender. But the longer she stays in his obsidian fortress, the harder it becomes to tell who is claiming whom. Her former mate wants her back. Her bloodline wants war. And the Despot who was never supposed to feel anything has already decided she belongs to him. There is no escape. Only the bond. And the ruin that comes with it.

Chapter 1 - The Severing

Lyra

The Blood Moon hung heavy over the ceremony grounds. Red light painted every face in the circle. Drums beat low and steady under the night sky.

I stood in the centre with Logan, my hands folded the way I had been taught since I was small. Smile softly. Chin slightly down. Shoulders relaxed. Do not take more space than you are given. Do not let your eyes challenge anyone. Be easy to look at and easier to forget.

I had practised this night for years.

Every detail had been drilled into me. How to stand. How to breathe. How to keep my voice gentle if I was asked to speak. How to make the whole pack feel that the bond between Logan and me was natural and right.

I had done everything right. I had folded myself smaller and smaller until there was almost nothing left that could offend.

Something felt wrong before he even spoke.

The bond between us, the one the moon itself was supposed to have blessed, pulled tight and then went thin. Logan's energy, usually warm against mine like a steady hand, turned cold. Distant.

It felt like he had already stepped away from me while still standing right there in the centre of the stones.

I looked up at him.

He did not look at me.

He wore the Alpha's cloak. Dark fur at the shoulders. The pack crest shone on his chest under the red light. His jaw was set. His eyes were fixed on the elders, not on the girl who had shared his bed and his future for the last three years.

Sanya stood two steps behind him. My sister. Same blood. Same face, only sharper at the edges.

She wore the mate colours. Gold thread along the sleeves. White fur at the collar. The exact dress the seamstresses had measured on my body three weeks ago.

I remembered standing still while they pinned the fabric. I remembered thanking them.

My stomach turned hard.

I told myself I was imagining it. I always told myself that. If I stayed quiet, if I was good, if I made myself small enough, the wrongness would pass, and everything would settle back into place.

It did not pass.

Elder Garron raised his staff. The iron tip caught the Blood Moon light.

The drums stopped at once.

The whole pack went still.

Hundreds of eyes locked on the centre of the circle. I felt every one of them on my skin.

Logan spoke into the silence.

"I reject Lyra of Duskmoor."

The words landed like a blade across open flesh.

I heard them in the air. I felt them inside my chest, right where the bond lived.

Something tore.

It did not tear cleanly or kindly.

It ripped.

I did not move. I could not.

My body stayed locked in the same soft posture I had held all night, as if my bones had not yet received the message that everything was over.

"She is a weak omega," Logan said.

His voice carried cleanly across the stones, steady and public.

"She cannot stand beside an Alpha. She cannot carry the weight of this pack. She has no strength to offer. I cut the bond. I named Sanya as my mate."

Sanya stepped forward at once.

No surprise on her face. No hesitation. No flicker of guilt that I could see.

She had known.

The dress proved it. The gold paint on her hands proved it. The way she moved into the space I still occupied proved it.

This was not a sudden choice made in anger. This was planned. Measured. Prepared while I was still smiling and folding myself smaller for them.

A small broken sound left my throat.

Ugly. Raw.

No one came closer.

My father stood in the front row of elders. His jaw was tight. The lines around his mouth looked deeper under the red light.

His eyes stayed fixed on the Blood Moon above us.

Not on me.

Not once.

He had taught me how to pour wine for visiting Alphas. He had taught me how to apologise before anyone asked. He had never taught me how to stand when the whole room turned against me.

I waited for him to speak. To stop this. To say my name the way a father should.

He said nothing.

Elder Garron spoke next. His voice was dry and final, the voice of law that had never cared for soft things.

"Lyra of Duskmoor. By pack law and by the Blood Moon, you are named rogue. You will leave these lands tonight. The waste will take what the pack will not keep."

The wastes.

I knew the word.

Every pup in Duskmoor knew it. Frozen ground that never fully thawed. Rogue wolves that hunted anything warm. No fire allowed. No food given. No name that anyone would answer to.

The wastes were not exile.

The wastes were a slow, legal way to die.

Hands closed around my arms. Pack guards. Men who had eaten at our table during feast nights. Men who used to call me princess when it cost them nothing but a smile.

Their fingers dug in hard enough to bruise.

I tried to speak.

My voice came out thin.

"Logan."

He finally looked at me.

There was no love in his eyes. No hate either. Only the flat, finished look of a man who had already completed a task and wanted to move on to the next one.

Deep under my skin. Low in my blood. Something ancient and unfamiliar stirred, slow and heavy, like a great animal turning over in its long sleep.

Silver heat, thin and strange, slid through my veins for one single heartbeat.

It did not belong to Duskmoor. It did not belong to Logan or to any lesson I had ever been given.

It was older.

Hungrier.

It was mine in a way nothing else had ever been.

It rose.

It sank again.

No one else noticed.

The guards kept pulling. Their boots scraped on stone. The pack kept watching the new Alpha and his chosen mate. The Blood Moon kept bleeding its red light across the ceremony grounds as if nothing had changed.

Only I felt it.

Only I knew something had woken that should have stayed buried.

They dragged me out of the circle, and the flicker stayed with me, quiet and waiting, as the drums started again behind us and the ceremony continued without me.

Chapter 2 - The Walk Out

Lyra

The guards did not slow down once we left the ceremony stones. Their grip stayed hard on my arms. The red light of the Blood Moon thinned behind us as we moved into the outer path. Torches lined the way in uneven gaps. The ground turned from smooth stone to packed dirt and then to thin snow that crunched under my soft ceremony shoes.

I kept walking because they made me. My body still held the old posture. Head slightly down. Shoulders are soft. Do not make them work harder than they must.

The pack sounds faded. The low chant for the new Luna. The shuffle of feet turning back toward the fires. The life that would continue without me.

My mind would not stay quiet.

What did I do wrong?

The question rose first, the way it always had. It was the oldest tool I owned. If I could find the mistake, I could fix it. If I could fix it, maybe someone would change their mind before the borde
