Non mais dans quelle époque ce roman a-t-il été écrit? J’ai l’impression de vivre au Moyen-âge: Mariages obligés, vérifier si la femme est toujours vierge, provenir obligatoirement d’une famille avec un pedigree impeccable avant le mariage. On se croirait dans une fable de Cendrillon! Pourquoi subir de telles humiliations et les encaisser sans riposter? Ashley n’a-t-elle aucune colonne? Comment se fait-il qu’elle ne se rebelle pas? Pourquoi Diana est-elle traitée différemment?

This was a good little read. Not your typical “billionaire” book. But it was a little hard to fathom how the lead female was treated, and what she put up with. And also the timeline was a little hard to grasp with some of the development of “new characters” further into the book, because they were so new. (Really trying to make sure there is no spoilers) And sometimes the paragraphs in chapters would keep saying the same thing, just in different ways so it got a little repetitive. But all in all it was a decent book. :)

A decent read. I was yelling at and hating on some of the characters in my head, and others out loud. I did hit a point where I thought we were switching POV's too much and wasn't really sure I needed it to move the story along. But at other points I would've liked more of one POV or a different POV. I got to the end of the story still uneasy about Anderson and Ashley's relationship because of how it started and Anderson's violence toward her at one point, but that might be because of life experiences and maybe not necessarily anything to do with the story and characters.

Oh my god I'm so glued to this novel, I'm wondering what will happen at the end, cos currently I'm feeling like biting Andersons nose for bad treatment he is doing to his wife Ashley, and that nonsense half sister called Diana is so evil conspiring with that good for nothing mother in law, what kind of people are Ashleys parents that they'd Mary her to that man, just for status!! But at least there's Edward a kind man and I love that he would give food

What horrible, horrible, horrible people. I have cried so much for Ashley. None of the other characters, except maybe Andrew, have any redeeming qualities. They all are using Ashley as their scapegoat for every situation. I was hoping Ashley would either run away or, I hate to say it but, attempt suicide to make all the pain and humiliation end. She’s a strong person but even strong people can only take so much, especially when it’s coming from every other character. I still can’t fathom how Diana didn’t get blamed for the whole switheroo.

I'm enjoying reading this novel but it is a little slow and the chapters are short. The book is easy to read and has a good story base and I'm looking forward to the next stage in the book, hopefully the female character will fight back and create a bit of excitement or a scandal. I am getting a little lost in the timeline of the story, it seems to jump around and I lose track of when things are to happen.

Diana and Ashley were such believable characters. The author added many layers to the story. The hate that both parents projected was palpable. Diana’s obsession was criminal bordering on madness. Her manipulation of her parents and of Lillian was a little hard to believe. Andrew was such a nice guy it’s too bad he ended up with such a loser. Including Evan and his relationship with Andrew meeting in the cafe and then the follow-up in jail tied up a lot of loose ends. Other than a few his and her mixups the grammar was pretty good.
