Prosper is an elite secret agent whose entire world is upended in a single, devastating moment: his husband, Engel, is raided, captured, and ripped away from their home. The arrest is a media storm and a personal betrayal, exposing Engel not as a quiet partner, but as the dreaded emperor of the underground. Suddenly separated by prison walls, Prosper is left reeling, torn between his professional oath and the shattered remains of their family. But Engel's imprisonment acts as a global detonator. Behind bars, heavily pregnant and isolated, Engel guards a staggering, impossible secret—one that the criminal underworld and the supernatural alike are willing to tear the earth apart to control. When his captivity triggers the collapse of modern society, mankind and the supernatural plunge into a brutal, old-world war for dominion. With governments and ancient horrors hunting the Darkbourne family, Prosper and Engel find themselves forcibly separated on opposite sides of a burning, chaotic wasteland. To survive the apocalypse, keep their children safe, and stop whatever terrifying force is growing inside his imprisoned husband, Prosper must fight his way through the ruins of civilization to reach Engel before the world—and reality itself—breaks entirely.
