Résumé
They called him an abomination, but they were wrong. On the night of Kelly’s first shift, he expects to finally discover what kind of wolf he is. Instead, he discovers something that should be impossible. He is an Omega. In a world where Omegas are believed to be extinct, weak, and cursed, Kelly’s existence terrifies his pack. Their fear quickly turns into hatred, and their Alpha gives only one order: Kill him. Kelly runs for his life, leaving behind the only home he has ever known. For five years, he survives alone, hiding what he truly is and convincing himself that he will never belong anywhere again. Until Julian walks into his life. The moment their eyes meet, Kelly’s wolf whispers one word: Mate. Julian is everything Kelly should stay away from—a powerful wolf, the son of an Alpha, and the heir to one of the strongest packs in the region. But Julian doesn't fear him. He wants him. And when the truth about Kelly's bloodline begins to surface, they discover that Omegas were never weak. They were something far more powerful—the ancient force capable of connecting every wolf. Now Kelly's awakening has stirred something that has been sleeping beneath the mountains for centuries. An ancient creature. The First Wolf. And it knows Kelly's name. As rival packs close in and an old enemy returns, Kelly must finally decide whether he will keep running from the wolf he was born to be—or embrace his true power. Because Kelly isn't a curse. He's the last Omega. And his destiny could change the werewolf world forever. But when fate puts the entire world in his hands, will Kelly choose power... or choose the one person who taught him what it means to be loved?
Chapter 1
The forest had never sounded so loud. Every rustle of leaves seemed to whisper Kelly's name. Every howl in the distance made his heart beat faster. Tonight was supposed to be the happiest night of his life.
Instead, Kelly was running for his life.
Five hours earlier, he had been standing in the center of the Moonstone Pack's sacred clearing, surrounded by hundreds of wolves and waiting for his first shift.
At eighteen, every wolf in the pack was expected to transform for the first time beneath the full moon. It was more than a rite of passage. It was a declaration of who you were. Dominants became Alphas or Betas. Others became warriors, hunters, healers, or ordinary pack members. And then there were omegas.
Kelly had never actually met one. No one had. Not in Moonstone Pack.
The elders said omegas had been wiped out generations ago. They were weak. Defective. An insult to the natural order. An abomination.
Kelly had grown up hearing those words without ever imagining they might one day be used to describe him.
"Are you nervous?"
Kelly looked beside him. His best friend, Marcus, was grinning.
"A little," Kelly admitted.
"A little?" Marcus laughed. "You've been pacing around for three hours."
"I have not."
"You walked around your room so much your mother thought you were sick."
Kelly smiled despite himself.
His mother had fussed over him all afternoon, bringing him food he hadn't been hungry enough to eat and reminding him repeatedly that everything would be fine.
She had been proud.
Everyone had.
Kelly was the only son of a respected Beta family. His father had served the pack for years, and everyone expected Kelly to inherit his father's strength. Some even whispered that Kelly might become a Beta himself. Kelly wasn't sure about that. He wasn't particularly strong. He had always been smaller than the other boys his age, and he had never been interested in fighting. But his father insisted that strength wasn't always about muscles.
"Your wolf will show you who you are," he had told Kelly that morning.
Kelly had believed him.
Until the moon rose.
The ceremony began with the Alpha stepping forward.
Alpha Darius was a massive man with silver beginning to creep into his dark hair. His wolf was one of the strongest in the territory, and his presence alone could silence an entire room.
"Tonight," the Alpha announced, "we welcome the next generation of wolves."
The crowd cheered.
Kelly's stomach tightened.
One by one, the young wolves entered the clearing. The first transformation was always painful.
Bones cracked. Muscles twisted. Skin stretched. But beneath the agony came something beautiful—the moment when a wolf finally emerged.
A young woman named Clara shifted first. Her wolf was large and golden. The crowd roared.
"Beta!" someone shouted.
Clara lifted her head proudly.
Another boy shifted into a black wolf.
Then another.
Then another.
Kelly watched anxiously as each transformation brought cheers.
Finally, the elder called his name.
"Kelly Anderson."
His legs suddenly felt weak.
Marcus squeezed his shoulder.
"Go."
Kelly swallowed.
Then he stepped into the center of the clearing. The moonlight fell across his face. For a moment, everything was silent. He closed his eyes.
Breathe.
His father's voice echoed inside his head.
Let your wolf find you.
Kelly inhaled.
And then the pain came. It was worse than anything he had imagined. His knees hit the ground. A scream tore from his throat. His bones began to crack. His spine twisted. His fingers curled into claws. He heard someone gasp.
The transformation continued. And then—
Nothing.
Kelly opened his eyes and the world looked different. Sharper. Brighter. He could hear the heartbeat of everyone around him. He could smell the trees. The earth. The moonlight itself seemed to have a scent. He looked down. White fur covered his body. His paws trembled against the ground. He had shifted. He had finally become a wolf.
Kelly looked toward his parents. His mother's face was frozen. His father's expression was worse.
Fear.
Not pride. Not happiness. Fear.
Kelly's ears flattened.
What's wrong?
Then someone whispered the word.
"Omega."
The entire clearing went silent.
Kelly didn't understand. He looked toward the elders. One of them had gone pale. Another took a step backward.
"No," the oldest elder whispered.
Alpha Darius stood abruptly.
"Say that again."
The elder stared at Kelly.
"He's an omega."
The silence shattered.
People began murmuring.
"No."
"Impossible."
"They were supposed to be extinct."
"How did this happen?"
Kelly shifted back into human form, desperately trying to cover himself.
"What does that mean?"
No one answered.
He looked at his mother.
"Mom?"
She was crying.
His father stepped toward him.
"Stay where you are."
Kelly's heart sank.
"Dad?"
The Alpha's eyes hardened.
"Take him."
Two warriors immediately stepped forward.
Kelly stumbled backward.
"What?"
His father didn't look at him.
"Take him."
"Why?"
Kelly's voice broke.
"What did I do?"
The warriors grabbed his arms.
Kelly struggled.
"Let me go!"
His mother screamed, "Please!" But the Alpha silenced her with a look.
"An omega cannot remain in this pack."
Kelly stared at him.
"Why?"
The Alpha's voice was cold.
"Because omegas destroy the balance of a pack."
Kelly shook his head.
"I don't understand."
"You don't need to."
The warriors dragged him away.
His mother screamed his name, and Kelly fought harder.
"Mom!"
His father finally looked at him. Their eyes met. And Kelly saw something that hurt more than the pain of his transformation.
His father wasn't coming to save him. He was letting them take him.
Kelly's heart shattered. He stopped struggling. The warriors dragged him toward the edge of the clearing. Then one of them loosened his grip. Kelly didn't think. He ran. He sprinted into the forest. Behind him came shouts.
"GET HIM!"
Kelly ran faster. Branches scratched his face. His bare feet struck stones and roots. He could hear wolves chasing him. His pack. The people he'd grown up with. The people he'd trusted. They wanted him dead.
Kelly didn't know how long he ran. He only knew that eventually the sounds behind him began to fade. He collapsed beside a river. For several minutes, he could do nothing but breathe. His body shook violently. He hugged his knees against his chest.
"I'm not an abomination."
The words sounded weak.
He repeated them.
"I'm not an abomination."
The forest gave him no answer.
Kelly looked toward the moon. Tears streamed down his face. He thought about his mother, his father, his childhood home, his friends. Everything was gone. All because of something he hadn't chosen. Something he didn't understand.
A howl echoed in the distance and Kelly froze. His pack had found his trail.
He scrambled to his feet. He couldn't go back. He wouldn't.
Kelly turned toward the darkness beyond the river.
Then he ran. He didn't know where he was going. He didn't know what would happen to him. He didn't know what an omega truly was. But he knew one thing. He would survive. Even if he had to survive alone.
Five years later, Kelly would look back on that night and realize something he could never have understood then.
The moon hadn't cursed him.
It had set him free.
Chapter 2
Kelly woke to the sound of rain. For several seconds, he didn't know where he was. He stared at the unfamiliar ceiling above him, listening to the steady tapping against the wooden roof. The room was small and dark, with only a narrow window allowing the gray morning light inside.
Then he remembered. The ceremony. The transformation. The word that had changed everything.
Omega.
Kelly sat up suddenly. Pain shot through his body.
He winced and looked down at himself.
His clothes were still torn from the night before. Mud covered his legs, and scratches ran across his arms and chest. His feet were swollen from running barefoot through the forest.
But he was alive. And that was all that mattered, at least for the moment.
He pushed himself out of the bed and immediately stumbled.
"Easy."
Kelly froze.
A woman stood in the doorway. She was perhaps in her late fifties, with gray hair pulled into a loose knot and a basket of herbs h
