Deskripsyon

“You’re a mistake of nature, Elara. A wolf with no soul and no scent. I reject you, not just as my mate, but as a member of this species.” — Elara Vance was the "Ghost of Silver-Ridge." Born into a prestigious lineage of warriors, she was the ultimate disappointment—a wolf with no scent, no shift, and no power. Her family treated her as a defective waste, and her fated mate, Alpha Julian, used her brilliance to run his pack before publicly discarding her for a "pureblood" she-wolf. Waiting for her are four lethal, diverse wolves… but they don't want a submissive Luna—they want a Sovereign. Can a rejected "human-like" wolf outsmart a centuries-old conspiracy? Will her diverse mates learn to share the woman who holds their very souls in her hands? Or will the family that disowned her realize too late that they didn't throw away a mistake—they threw away the Queen?

Chapter 1

Elara's POV

"I, Alpha Julian Lorae of the Silver Ridge Pack, reject you, Elara Vance, as my true mate, severing all bonds between us."

Julian’s voice boomed across the ceremonial grounds, practiced and cold, echoing off the stone pillars surrounding the plaza. The entire pack froze, dozens of eyes locked onto me, waiting for the tears that would never come. My face stayed blank, giving them nothing.

I didn't cry, I didn't scream, and I certainly didn't fall to my knees begging for his mercy.

His posture faltered, dark eyes darting across my face, confusion replacing his smug certainty. Of all the reactions he had probably rehearsed in his head to feed his bloated ego, this emptiness was not on the list.

Instead of breaking, I laughed.

My laughter echoed across the quiet grounds and off the surrounding cliffs. Several pack elders gasped in sheer disbelief.

"What on earth is wrong with you?" Julian snapped, his smirk disappearing. "Are you out of your mind, Elara?"

I wiped a tear of amusement from my eye and stepped toward the raised platform. "Look at you, Julian. Did you honestly believe I ever considered you my mate?"

The crowd erupted into stunned whispers, my words rippling through the rows of wolves. Julian’s jaw tightened, his throat working as his face reddened.

"You are a defective, wolfless freak!" Julian snarled, stepping to the edge of the stage to loom over me. "You bring nothing to this pack, and you should be crawling on the dirt begging for my forgiveness!"

"Is that the best you've got?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest as I looked him up and down. "You've been rehearsing that speech in front of the mirror for weeks, haven't you?"

Four years of using my brain to run his trade routes and fix his economic disasters meant I was in love with him. I remembered the day he approached me when I turned eighteen.

He smiled, praised my intelligence, and started using me to fix the disasters his incompetent leaders kept creating.

"I am crowning Seraphina Melis, the pure blood, as my true mate!" Julian declared, his voice echoing as he gestured grandly toward the front row. "A real woman with a real wolf who actually deserves to stand beside the Alpha!"

Seraphina glided toward the podium, a smug smile on her painted lips. Her eyes met mine bright with triumph. I simply smirked back.

“Good luck managing a grown man-child who can't even balance a basic budget without crying to his elders.” I said, loud enough for the entire front row to hear.

"Is this how you raised your child, Vance?" Elder Thomas barked from the high table, slamming his wooden staff against the floor. "She openly mocks the Alpha, the sacred bond, and the traditions of this entire territory!"

My father didn't bother answering with words. He stormed down from the elevated platform without saying a word as the crowd parted to let him through.

Before I could blink, his palm cracked across my cheek, snapping my head sideways. Pain burned through my jaw, blood filling my mouth, but I stayed upright and met his eyes.

"Is that all you've got?" I asked, spitting a copper-stained droplet onto the cold stone between us. "You've hit me harder than that when I was ten."

"You have been nothing but a sickening, pathetic embarrassment to this family!" my father hissed, his chest heaving as he glared at me. "Why couldn't you just die the day you were brought into this world?"

"Because I survived you," I spat back, holding his gaze. "That's what actually drives you crazy, isn't it? That your defective daughter refuses to fold up and die quietly."

"We only have one daughter!" my father announced, turning his back on me to address the entire gathered pack. "Only one true child who carries the strength and pride of the Vance bloodline!"

Every head in the plaza turned toward Lyra, my younger sister, sitting among the warrior elite in her tailored robes. Everyone adored her. She had shifted early, risen quickly and carried herself like she belonged at the center of the room. I was the embarrassment they kept out of sight.

"When have you ever actually treated me like a daughter?" I asked, cutting through his speech. "Name one time in twenty-two years where you looked at me as a person instead of a mistake."

"Shut your mouth, Elara!" he snarled, spinning back around to step directly into my personal space, his breath hot against my forehead. "You do not get to address me or this family with such disrespect!"

"You, Mom, and everyone here are all cowards," I whispered, leaning in closer so only he could hear the full weight of my words. "You've wished for my death since the day I failed to shift, so don't pretend to be righteous in front of these people now."

"Elara, please stop this!" Lyra rushed down from her seat, tears appearing at exactly the right moment. "Father only wants what is best for the pack! Why are you being so cruel to our family on such a sacred night?"

She reached for my arm, putting on her little sister act for the crowd.

"Get your fake tears and your filthy hands away from me," I growled, shoving her arm away before her fingers could even graze my sleeve.

The shove sent her stumbling backward onto the ground, dirt streaking those pristine robes she had been so careful to show off as she let out a high-pitched gasp. The hall erupted in outrage. Warriors stepped forward as if I’d committed high treason.

"You absolute monster!" my mother shrieked, sprinting down from the high table to scoop her precious darling into her arms. "Look at what you did to your own sister! You really are a soulless beast!"

"That is the final straw!" my father bellowed as he raised his hand to the sky. "We disown you, Elara Vance! Effective right here and right now!"

"You are stripped of the Vance name, your rank, and every single asset you think you possess," my mother added, her voice trembling as she glared at me. "You leave this family tonight with nothing!"

I looked down at my worn leather boots, then slowly raised my eyes back to meet my father's. "Nothing? The rags on my back and the food in my stomach were bought with my own labor in your archives, not your charity. So when have I ever owned a thing in that family?!"

"You own nothing that comes from this bloodline!" my father shouted, his voice booming over the quieted crowd. "Not a single right, not a single coin, and not a single drop of our honor!"

"You're right," I said, stepping forward as I raised my left hand between us. "You gave me exactly one thing in this life, and that was bringing me into this miserable world."

My mother frowned, pulling Lyra closer to her chest as she watched my hand. "What are you doing, Elara?"

"Consider this my final debt paid," I whispered, staring directly into my father's eyes.

I hooked my right thumb under my left index finger, bracing my weight, and snapped the bone backward with a violent, sickening crack that echoed through the silent hall.

My mother shrieked in horror, hiding her face against Lyra's shoulder, while my father took an involuntary step back, his eyes widening as he stared at my rapidly swelling, broken finger.

I didn't flinch or make a sound. Pain burned up my arm as I held my father’s gaze.

"The Vance bloodline is officially dead to me," I said, my voice steady as blood pooled beneath the broken skin. "Now name my exile, Alpha, so I can finally leave this dump behind."

Chapter 2

Elara's POV

I turned on my heel and walked away across the cold stone without giving Julian so much as a backward glance, determined to leave him standing there with the rejection he’d been so eager to give me.

"I accept your rejection, Alpha," I called back over my shoulder. "Consider us completely even."

"Stop right where you are, Elara!" Julian roared, his voice echoing across the courtyard with the kind of authority he had always assumed everyone would automatically obey. "If you still consider me your alpha and expect a roof over your head tonight, you will stand there and listen!"

I stopped and slowly turned back to face him. A small smile tugged at the corner of my mouth as I watched him realize that his threat had done absolutely nothing to frighten me.

"A roof over my head? When have you ever considered me a member of this pack?"

Julian opened his mouth to answer, but I didn’t give him the satisfaction of getting a
