On her first night, the academy’s golden boy — Therion Lennox, charismatic hockey captain and future Alpha heir claims her with a searing public kiss. It’s not a desire. It's more like defiance as Therion needs a fake relationship to escape a venomous arranged alliance. Lunaria needs protection from the predators circling her. As stolen moments turn into heated nights and uncontrollable powers begin to surface, Lunaria finds herself at the center of a deadly prophecy. In a world where love is treason and power is everything, some bonds are worth breaking the world for and Lunaria must navigate a web of lies, forbidden desire, and a twin sister whose awakening may destroy everything. Therion must choose between his pack’s legacy and the girl whose blood could either save or doom them all. Welcome to Wisbur Academy. Some students don’t survive orientation. Others… were never meant to.

Shattered Silence

Lunaria POV

My heart slammed against my ribs as the words drifted through the closed door like poison.

“She can’t control it anymore.”

I froze mid-step in the hallway, my bag handle suddenly slick in my palm. I had been heading to my room to finish packing for my outing when their voices stopped me cold.

“We have to send her away, Jude. Before it happens again.” Mom’s voice trembled, but steel ran underneath. “Before she kills someone else the way she almost killed her.”

Me. I knew they were talking about me.

Guilt tried to choke me, but I shoved it down. I was done letting it rule me. Thirteen years old when this thing inside me first cracked open. Three months ago, it turned one stupid fight with my twin into a nightmare. One uncontrolled push and Lunelle had flown backward, slamming into the wall with a crack I still hear in my nightmares. Three months in a coma. Three months of my parents treating me like a loaded gun going to trigger any minute.

I wasn’t going to be their dirty secret anymore.

The door swung open. Mom stepped out first and recoiled when she saw me standing there. Dad followed, his face carved like he had seen the woman who turned males into stone.

“Sweetheart—” Mom started almost immediately but the words felt forced as her eyes went all over my body, probably in disgust or hatred, I wasn't sure which one.

What I was sure of was the reaction I had gotten from her especially since my thirteenth birthday and it became worse ever since the accident happened. Not like I was expecting it to be less given what I had done. But …she has been cold, really cold and and I'd been walking on eggshells around her. I knew I did something terrible, it was unforgivable but it wasn't my fault.

Something was wrong with me.

Something more than just being the bad twin.

"Come to the dining room," mom announced, breaking into my thoughts as I looked from her to Dad, who appeared behind her with a grim expression etched across his face.

And without waiting for the words to even sink into my head, they walked away.

I struggled to take a step. I was scared of what was to come. After what I heard, I had no idea where they were planning to send me to, and that was the most terrifying part.

But the only way to know was to join them.

"Good morning dad," I greeted as soon as I stepped into the dining room. They were already seated while Lisa, our maid, served our breakfast.

"Good morning mom," I added as I pulled out the chair opposite her. Mom only glanced at me without uttering a word. Ever since the accident, we hardly talked to each other.

"Morning Lunaria," Dad replied. At least, he was the only one that still made me feel like a human in the house.

I gave him a small smile and he bobbed his head.

"We have something important to say to you," Mom started almost immediately she saw my smile and my heart skipped a beat. The maid dropped a plate of fried eggs and bread in front of me, and my throat bobbed.

"We can talk about it after breakfast," Dad suggested but mom shot him a scowl.

Although I knew he was trying to lessen the tension in the air, I would prefer hearing it now other than filling my head with different thoughts until after breakfast.

"Oh, what's it?" I asked with a forced smile as I straightened up.

They looked at each other like they were trying to form something other than what they earlier discussed.

“Don’t.” My voice came out sharp and steady. I lifted my chin and met her eyes without flinching. “I heard everything. You’re shipping me off to Wisbur Academy tomorrow.”

Dad sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Lunaria, it’s not—”

“It’s exactly that.” I stepped closer, refusing to shrink. The suitcase wheels scraped against the floor like a challenge. “You’ve barely looked at me since the accident. You won’t let me see her. Now you want me gone so you can pretend the bad twin never existed.”

Mom’s eyes flashed with a mix of pain and anger. “What you are is dangerous. You put your sister in that hospital bed. People are already talking. If word gets out—”

“I know what happened.” My tone stayed firm even as the memory burned.

“But why?” It came out like a whisper.

"Why?” My mum questioned me. “You want to go back to that school so people would start asking about your sister and you'll tell them you beat her to a coma, right?" She asked on top of her voice.

I didnt know how to respond. Truthfully, I didn't beat her. I only touched her. It was only an accident. How she ended up in a coma. It was beyond me. One minute we were arguing about a silly disagreement, and the next, Lunelle was on the floor.

I swallowed hard, the memory crashing into me like a wave.

“I didn’t beat her,” I whispered.

My mother’s laugh was sharp and bitter.

“Then what happened, Lunaria? Tell me, because I’d love to know.”

The accusation in her eyes felt worse than a slap. I opened my mouth, but no words came out.

How was I supposed to explain something I didn’t understand myself?

I remembered the screams not only from me but my mother who rushed in. The sounds from the ambulance. And the looks my parents gave me afterward.

“It was an accident,” I said, my voice barely audible.

“An accident?” Mom repeated. “Your sister has been lying unconscious in a hospital bed for three months.”

Each word struck like a hammer.

“I know.”

“No, you don’t know.” Her voice broke. “You get to walk around. You get to sleep in your own bed. Lunelle doesn’t get any of that.”

Guilt twisted in my stomach.

Every day I wished I could trade places with her.

Every single day since the incident.

If I could wake her up by taking her place in that hospital bed, I would.

But wishing didn’t change anything.

Neither did crying. Nothing changed the fact that Lunelle was in a coma.

Mom wiped angrily at her tears.

“People are already talking. They’re asking questions. And sooner or later, someone is going to realize you almost succeeded in killing your twin.”

A chill ran through me.

"Stop it, Lily," Dad cautioned. Mom shot me one last look before looking away.

“I have cried so many times. It was an accident. I don’t understand what happened any more than you do, but I’m not hiding forever. If you think this Wisbur has a cure for me, I’ll follow them. But don’t pretend this is purely for my safety. You’re washing your hands of me.”

Silence crashed down. Dad placed a hand on Mom’s shoulder, but she shrugged it off.

“Wisbur Academy is isolated,” he said quietly. “Deep in the woods. It functions like its own town. They have… experience with people like you.

“Keep your head down. Don’t draw attention. And for God’s sake, control yourself,” Mom finished.

The warning felt like a threat. I wanted to scream that I had been controlling it—every single day. Instead, I gave one sharp nod.

“Fine. I’ll go. But when I come back, things are going to be different. I’m not disappearing into the forest and never coming back.”

Mom turned away without another word. Dad lingered, something unspoken flickering in his eyes, but he pressed his lips together and followed her.

"Can I at least see Lunelle before I leave tomorrow?" It took all the courage in me to ask that question and just as I expected, it was rejected.

"Why? You want to finish what you started, right? You want to kill her finally this time around?" Mom burst out, and I shook my head.

"No, that's not it. I would never. Its just that I haven't seen her since that time and it's been weeks but ..."

"Shut it!" Mom shrieked, and I flinched.

She always reacted that way whenever I mention going to see my twin sister ever since the doctor announced that Lunelle was in a comatose state, they never allowed me to visit her in the hospital or even mention her name in that house.

"Lunaria, you can't visit your twin sister. Just eat your breakfast and go get prepared for your new school," Dad said.

I stared at him in disbelief.

"But I'll be gone for long. I have to see her," I said in a pleading tone but neither of them answered. They couldn't even look at me. And that was just the last time we had breakfast together.

I stood alone in the hallway, staring at the closed door to Lunelle’s room. The silence behind it pressed on my chest. I rested my palm against the wood.

“I’m leaving tomorrow,” I whispered. “I know you can’t hear me… but I want to believe you can.”

I pulled my hand back before I could start crying. I was so tired of crying. I had cried so many times in the weeks since the accident that it felt like a well I'd be drawing from for the rest of my life, and I needed to hold onto whatever was left at the bottom. I needed to be able to breathe through whatever tomorrow was going to be.

Eyes in the mist

Lunaria’s POV

The drive the next morning felt endless. Towering evergreens pressed close to the road like silent accusers, their branches reaching across the sky as if trying to block out the light. I stared out the window, replaying the accident with Lunelle in my mind—not just with shame this time, but with fierce determination to find out what happened.

It felt like I was back there. I could feel everything; the pressure that had built in my chest during our argument, the way she had flown backward after I pushed her, the crack of her body hitting the wall, all of it. Whatever lived inside me wasn’t just a curse. It was something terrifying. If Wisbur Academy could teach me to master it, I would be very grateful and would have to fear myself or hurting anyone else ever again. No more cold stares from my mother. No more walking on eggshells in my own home.

I would become someone who couldn’t be sent away.

I looked at my google map and saw we were almost to
