Chapter 1 Missing person case
Wade crouched behind a wall, a gun strapped to his side. He looked opposite to where his friend and assistant, Mark was and motioned for him to follow him.
"Are you sure this is the correct place? I hope we don't get our brains blasted off," Mark grumbled while loading bullets into his gun.
"What are you talking about? We have the advantage of sneak attack here," Wade said rather arrogantly.
"Your fighting skills are better than mine. No wonder you can boast," Mark replied matter of factly.
Wade ushered Mark and two more men dressed in police uniforms to follow him into the building. Within seconds, gunshots were fired, bullets whizzed through the air in a deadly fight. The air smelt of gunpowder and the metallic scent of blood was noticeable. In the dark night, the place was eerily quiet except for a nightclub that was blaring lights and music in the distance.
Wade would have much preferred to put his feet up by the fireplace and munch on a bag of Lays but unfortunately, something terrible happened.
"If it wasn't for proving myself to that old man, I wouldn't be here," Wade mumbled under his breath, thinking back to when he gave up the position of CEO to become a mere police officer.
Suddenly a bullet whizzed narrowly missed his head and hit the metal bar behind him.
"Chief, we have been detected!" One police officer called out.
"Well, sh*t. We have a rat," Wade smiled calmly.
He counted one to three before he came out of his hiding spot and spun around, putting bullets into the legs of the people who were approaching them silently. Cries and groans were heard as Wade calmly took them all down in a flash. Mark was struggling to keep up with him.
"Whenever it comes to busting criminals, the boss sure has extra energy," Mark mumbled under his breath.
"Did you see our man?!" Wade yelled.
"There's too much bullet! I can't find him!" Mark yelled back.
"Wade!" Mark cried out and pointed to one of their men who got shot in the leg.
"Cover me!" Wade dodged an oncoming bullet, grabbed the injured officer by the collar and quickly pulled him to safety.
Many minutes later, the sound of a siren could be heard from outside the building. The gang members were stunned and shocked! The building had been surrounded by the police in a matter of seconds.
"Put your weapon down. You have been surrounded. Any attempt to fight back would be seen as a threat and shall be taken care of immediately!" A man thundered on a loudspeaker.
The gang members had no choice but to drop their weapons and put their hands up. Wade walked towards the man with the loudspeaker as many cops rushed out from their vehicles and quickly apprehended the criminals.
"Wade!"
"Sargent Baxter! Good to see you!" Wade smiled gleefully.
"These are small criminals. But nevertheless, good job! Where is the suspect that was caught on camera?" Baxter asked, giving him a questioning look.
"Oh, yes.... Now I remember," With that, Wade quickly ran off in the opposite direction.
He was too caught up with catching the criminals that he had forgotten about the main reason he was here.
Wade ran to the backdoor as quickly as he could, the wind pounced on his face as he kicked the metal door open. He lifted the gun to his eye and fired a bullet, shooting accurately at a sports car's tyre.
The sportscar made a sudden turn and crashed into the bush. In the next second, a gun was pointed at the driver. Wade casually wiped his sweat with his sleeve and grinned.
"Sir, come with me. I have some questions for you," He placed a hand onto the man's shoulders.
"S...sir, please I don't know anything! I'm not involved!"
"We have evidence. You are charged for the missing case of Edward Mattson, CEO of Mattson group. You have the rights to remain silent and the rights to a lawyer,"
In the police station.
"These guys are from the Domino Gang. They may be a small gang but I heard that they had a powerful figure backing them up," Mark spoke to Baxter as they stood in front of the interrogation room where the suspect sat without saying a word.
"Where's the suspect?" Wade walked into the police station and asked.
A few female cops drooled at the sight of his handsome appearance and muscular arms.
Mark pointed to the interrogation room. "He's not saying anything,"
"Boss, you have a visitor," one female officer said and smiled sweetly at Wade.
"I'm jealous. Why do you have to be so popular with girls?" Mark said enviously with a sulking expression.
"What can I say, I'm charming," Wade laughed and went to his office where a middle aged man was waiting for him. The man, upon seeing him striding towards him. The man was dressed in an exquisite suit and carried an aura of a nobility.
"Father," Wade greeted him as politely as he could.
"Well, what have you found after running around with a bunch of insolent people you called your trusted partners?" His father, Henry spoke with disdain.
Wade smiled as if he didn't hear him insult his comrades.
"We have found the suspect who was with your business partner before he went missing. I believe this case will come to end soon,"
"Heh! Come to an end? Do you think it's that easy, Wade? You have three days! Three days! If Edward Mattson doesn't come to the meeting, the deal between the two companies will be forfeited and the loss will be huge! Can you take responsibility for that?! " Henry sneered, eyes burning with rage.
Apparently the father and son were estranged and often at loggerheads with each other. Henry wanted Wade to take over the company and become the next CEO, but Wade refused and chose to become a cop.
Thus choosing to start his own career by doing a low paying job. Because of that, Henry was taunted and mocked by his friends and business rivals for having a useless son. And by doing so, Wade had failed his father's expectations and caused the old man to swallow his pride.
"Your grandfather is looking for you!" Henry said angrily before he left.
Why was his grandfather looking for him?
Suddenly, Mark burst through his office door, panic written in his eyes before Wade had time to think about his grandfather.
"Boss, the suspect....."
Chapter 2 Dead suspect
"Boss, the suspect is dead!"
"Dead!?" Wade quickly rushed to the interrogation room where a doctor tried to perform an emergency rescue.
"An ambulance is on the way!" A female officer shouted from behind.
Everyone was panicking, doing their best to save the suspect. However, after two minutes, the doctor sighed and shook his head at them.
The doctor wiped his sweat and said, "Looks like he died of a heart attack. I'm sorry, Wade,"
"A heart attack? How did this happen?! Aren't you all on watch!?" Wade turned to the cops who were on duty, furious.
The young cops swallowed and glanced at the floor wordlessly.
"Chief, our rescue response was very fast. Doctor Howard was here within seconds yet he couldn't save the suspect," Mark tried to intercede for the young cops.
He motioned for them to retreat. Whenever the chief was angry, the whole room would be swept into a glacier, cold and scary.
"I'm not angry over that. Our lead
