Marked by a glowing moon symbol on her back, Luna must hide her gift. Fate leads Luna into the arms of Draconis — a mysterious warrior who is half vampire, half dragon, and the last of his kind. Bound by destiny, their worlds collide — from the ruins of war to the quiet whispers of the moonlit forest. Their hearts burn brighter than the fire and the moon that bind them. Yet peace always demands a price. As kingdoms fall and buried secrets awaken, Luna must embrace the power she has kept hidden to save her people. A story of love, courage, and destiny — When Moonlight Kissed the Dragon is a breathtaking fantasy romance about finding light in darkness, and how true love can set even the coldest night aflame.
Chapter 1. The Moon’s Mark
In the kingdom of Elarindel, inside the royal chamber, the Queen was in labour.
“Push, my Queen! Please, one more push!” the midwife cried, her hair sticking to her sweaty face.
The Queen was so exhausted she could barely turn her head. She looked weak in a way that scared everyone. Sweat rolled down her cheeks, her breathing fast and uneven.
Her maid, Sarah, knelt beside her.
“My Queen… please, don’t stop now,” she whispered. “You can do it.”
The Queen turned her head a little at the sound of her voice. She grabbed the bedsheet weakly and pushed again with whatever strength she had left.
“Good, good—just one more,” the midwife said quickly.
“Sarah, go get warm water.”
Sarah ran out and returned almost immediately. She handed the bowl over, and the midwife wiped the Queen’s face.
The Queen screamed again, and then a sharp cry filled the room.
“A boy,” the midwife said with a shaky breath of relief.
But before anyone could breathe properly, Arwen’s body tensed again.
She let out another cry—this one softer, full of pain.
The midwife froze for half a second, then rushed back down.
Another cry broke the silence.
“A girl,” she said, her voice quieter this time.
The room fell still. Then the midwife’s expression changed.
“This isn’t good,” she whispered.
The Queen was bleeding far too much. Even the midwife looked frightened.
The placenta wouldn’t come out no matter what she tried.
Sarah gasped. The midwife told her apprentice to run and fetch the royal physician.
King Alaric was pacing outside the chamber when he saw the apprentice racing out.
He immediately called her back.
“How is the Queen?” he demanded.
“My King,” she bowed quickly. “The Queen is bleeding.”
King Alaric’s face drained of colour.
He didn’t waste a moment. He pushed the doors open and rushed in.
Everyone bowed tthe moment he stepped inside.
“She is bleeding, Your Highness,” the midwife said. “I’ve tried everything, but the placenta won’t come out. I’ve sent for the royal physician.”
The King turned to his wife. She looked impossibly weak. Sarah held her close, crying quietly.
“My Queen,” King Alaric whispered.
Arwen’s eyes fluttered open at his voice.
She lifted her fingers toward him—barely. No words came out. Tears filled her eyes.
And then… she exhaled one last time. Her hand slipped away from his.
King Alaric froze.
He stared at her as if waiting for her to blink, move—anything.
His hand trembled as he touched her cheek.
“No… Arwen, please,” he whispered.
“Don’t leave me. I can’t do this alone. Our children need you. I need you… please…”
But her eyes never opened again.
The twins were named Kael and Luna.
And when King Alaric noticed the faint silver crescent glowing on Luna’s back, he stopped.
He remembered what the dead sorceress had once said:
“You will lose the one you love.”
From that night onward, magic was banned in the kingdom.

Years Later
Luna’s POV
I like running. Climbing trees. Getting dirty. Sneaking out even when I know I shouldn’t.
Elara and Rowan never call me “Princess.” They just call me Luna.
And honestly, that feels better than a crown ever will.
Kael doesn’t understand it. Father definitely doesn’t.
One evening, I came back covered in mud, hair sticking everywhere.
I didn’t expect Father standing in front of my chamber like a shadow.
“Where were you?” he asked sharply.
“With my friends,” I muttered.
“You are a princess,” he snapped. “You don’t mix with commoners.”
“They’re not common to me,” I said quietly. “They are my friends.”
He slammed his palm against a pillar, and I flinched.
“When I am speaking, you do not argue.”
He didn’t wait for my reply. He just turned away like he always does.
My throat tightened. I walked straight to Sarah’s door.
She opened it, and the moment I saw her, everything inside me broke.
I fell into her arms.
“It’s alright, child,” she whispered, rubbing my back. “Tell me what happened.”
But I couldn’t talk. I just cried harder.
“My little princess,” she murmured, holding me tighter.
Sometimes I think she’s the only one who truly loves me.
I wonder if Father will ever love me the way Elara and Rowan’s father loves them. I try to be what he wants, but somehow I always end up disappointing him without even trying.

Kael’s POV
My room is close to Luna’s, so I heard everything earlier.
I hate how Father talks to her.
But Luna doesn’t help herself either—she’s stubborn. If she wants something, she’ll still do it tomorrow even if she gets punished today.
She’s brave. Braver than I am.
She has people who choose her for who she is, not because she’s a princess.
I don’t really have that.
Sometimes… I envy her.
And I miss Mum. I wish she were here.
I never knew her, yet somehow her absence feels heavy.
I imagine she would understand things Father never even tries to.
Later that night
After a long while, Luna’s crying softened. Her breathing turned slow and shaky, her face buried in Sarah’s shoulder.
“She’s exhausted,” Sarah murmured, brushing Luna’s messy hair back.
Luna slowly went limp. She had cried herself to sleep.
Sarah laid her gently on the small bed by the window and covered her. She watched her for a moment, worried she might wake up crying again.
A soft knock sounded at the door—so quiet Sarah almost missed it.
When she opened it, Kael stood there, worry written all over his face.
“Is she… asleep?” he asked.
Sarah moved aside.
Kael walked in and stood by the bed. He didn’t say anything for a long time.
Then he moved closer and gently brushed away the strands of hair sticking to Luna’s cheek.
His touch was soft, protective.
Sarah watched from the doorway.
Kael stayed a few more seconds, then stepped back.
He nodded at Sarah and left, closing the door quietly behind him.
Sarah let out a slow breath.
She looked at Luna again, hoping the King would one day be kinder.

Draconis POV
I can’t remember the last time I tasted blood—time itself had lost meaning. Only the slow beat of my heart remained, that echo.
I am Draconis, prince of Dravaryn, firstborn of the Dragon Lord. I once ruled the skies with Lauren, my dragon.
But betrayal c
