After applying for numerous jobs without success, she feels completely devastated. By chance, as she heads to an interview for her dream position, she meets Liam—the CEO of one of New York’s fastest-growing companies and one of the city’s most sought-after bachelors—in the elevator. Liam, handsome, charming, and irresistible in his elegant suit, offers her a job as his personal secretary at his company. Thrilled, Emily immediately accepts. However, her life takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that her boss, a notorious womanizer, got her drunk during their first outing together. Emily wakes up the next morning and realizes with horror that she lost her virginity to Liam. Satisfied with his pleasure, he left her alone at the hotel. Shocked and humiliated, Emily wonders how she will ever return to work and face him after such an incident. A few months later, after missing her period, she discovers she is pregnant. Summoning all her courage, she tells Liam. His reaction shatters her—he rejects her and abandons her, leaving her to face the situation alone. Emily must now decide whether to keep the baby or choose abortion. Will she survive the consequences of this destructive affair?

Chapter 1

Chapter One

“It’s going to be okay.”

Emily lay on her bed, hesitant about her 10:00 a.m. interview. It was her second year after graduation. Life hadn’t been as sweet as she had imagined; the plan had been simple—go to university, earn a degree, secure a good job, and, of course, fall in love with her charming prince.

Emily was lost in thought when Rosie walked in, her hands covered in flour as she cooked. She had a major client and needed to prepare pastries for an upcoming wedding.

Rosie gently tapped Emily’s shoulder to bring her back to reality. “You’re overthinking,” she said when she saw the worry on Emily’s face.

“You’re perfect for this job—not just because you’re my friend, but because I’ve seen how hard you’ve worked.”

“You know how difficult these past weeks have been for me… I’m starting to lose hope. I really hope I get this job this time,” Emily murmured, checking the time once again.

“You mustn’t give up, Emily—not now,” Rosie replied. “You have to show your best self and push away those negative thoughts that don’t help you.”

“Come taste my delicious pastries!” Rosie said, pulling Emily from her bedroom into the kitchen.

“So, how is it?” she asked after Emily took a bite.

“You make the best pastries in New York, Rosie! I’m such a fan and so proud of you,” Emily replied.

“Thank you,” Rosie beamed, smiling as if she had just won the lottery. “It’s for the wedding of the year—the youngest couple in town!” she added, patting Emily on the back.

“And speaking of that, when will we be attending your wedding? You’re not getting any younger!” Emily whispered teasingly.

“I’m only 26, get yourself together, young lady!” Rosie exclaimed.

“When my Mr. Right comes along, I’ll say ‘yes’ and walk down the aisle with him,” she said confidently.

“And I’ll gladly follow as your maid of honor,” they added, acting it out and bursting into laughter together.

Rosie helped Emily to her feet. “Absolutely! Now hurry and get ready for your interview—you can’t be late. First impressions matter.”

“I have a really good feeling about your interview, Emily. This will be your last job search.”

“Thank you, Rosie,” Emily said emotionally, wiping away the tears that began to fall.

“I truly hope so. You know how easily I get discouraged when things don’t go as planned,” Emily sighed deeply.

She left the kitchen and returned to her room to get ready. She brushed her teeth quickly, then looked at herself in the full-length mirror in the bathroom corner. Satisfied with her appearance, she stepped into the shower.

After washing up, she dressed in a fitted red dress that highlighted her curves, paired with low heels and a black Gucci handbag. The dress reached her knees, revealing just enough without showing too much. She admired herself in the mirror with a sincere smile. She tied her hair into a neat bun and carefully arranged the loose strands that framed her face.

Having graduated as one of the top students in her department, Emily had expected to secure a job immediately. Several companies had rejected her for different reasons, which deeply disappointed her. She had managed to hold on thanks to Rosie’s support. She gently picked up the brown envelope containing her résumé from the wooden table in the middle of her room.

“Here we go again. Wish me luck,” she said nervously, remembering the many failed interviews and painful rejections.

“You’re going to get this job this time, Emily. Get ready!”

“Okay,” Emily replied, though she wasn’t entirely convinced.

Rosie had been her only family after their parents died in a car accident. A tear slid down her face. She wiped it away, but another followed as she thought about everything they had been through together over the years.

“I wish they were here to see what I’ve become—or at least see how hard I’m trying to build a better life,” she whispered.

“I know. They would be so proud of you, wherever they are,” Rosie said, gently patting her back to comfort her.

“Stop complaining—you have an interview. Hurry up and get dressed, or you’ll be late,” Rosie said firmly.

“We need money to pay our rent in three months. This job will really help me support you with the bills,” Emily said while Rosie focused on finishing the cupcakes.

“I’ve been such a burden to you these past weeks, and I want to help. If only I had gotten the job at the bank, I could have supported you more.”

“Don’t let past disappointments make you lose faith. I wish you the very best, and I will never see you as a burden. For heaven’s sake, I love having you here as long as you’re doing your best for yourself. You’re always welcome! I’ve seen how hard you’ve worked, and I’ll always be here to help you however I can, anytime,” Rosie reassured her.

“Thank you, Rosie,” Emily said, wiping her tears.

“Hurry up and have a wonderful day, Emily. Good luck with your interview once again!”

Rosie watched her for a moment, waiting for Emily to leave. After waving goodbye, she returned to her tasks, preparing one of the most beautiful wedding cakes of the year.

The Interview

Emily kept staring at her phone. The taxi Rosie had booked to take her to the interview location had not arrived yet.

She glanced at her wristwatch.

“9:45… I barely have fifteen minutes left. If this car doesn’t come now, I’m going to be late.”

Finally, the ride arrived. Relief washed over her as the car stopped in front of her, honking loudly.

“Oh my God! What took you so long?” she snapped at the driver, clearly impatient.

“I had a little trouble finding the place, ma’am. I’m really sorry for the delay.”

“Please hurry. I have an interview today and I can’t afford to be late—especially since I’ve already lost time because of you.”

The driver sped off, noticing her anxiety. In less than ten minutes, he dropped Emily off at the industrial district where Glams Enterprises was located.

Anxiety was written all over her face as she walked into the main building. She took the elevator to save time. Clutc
