Delancey Cruz had one rule: Survive senior year unnoticed. Unfortunately, that plan dies the moment Zayden Cole — West Ridge High’s golden boy, basketball captain, and certified academic disaster — is forced into tutoring sessions with her. Now suddenly everyone knows her name. One rumor turns into a hundred. People who ignored her now stare in hallways. Girls hate her. Guys notice her. And Zayden keeps showing up everywhere with that stupid grin and dangerous charm. What starts as forced tutoring slowly turns into late-night study sessions, fake flirting, whispered secrets, jealous fights, and a popularity she never asked for. But the more the school becomes obsessed with them, the harder it is to tell what’s fake… and what’s becoming painfully real. Because falling for the most popular boy in school? That was never part of the plan.

I’ll admit, I came into Popular by Association expecting your usual fake-dating trope, but Zayden and Delancey completely won me over. What made this book such an addictive read was the dynamic between them. Zayden isn't just your standard arrogant basketball captain… he has real depth, and the way he falls hard for Delancey while trying to pretend it's all for show is top-tier angst. Delancey is smart, holds her own, and doesn't just fold easily, which makes their banter and secret private moments hit so much harder.
