Annotation
A vampire's true identity is unknown, but he promises to do anything to become human, even if it means giving up his powers and breaking the law. "I want to be a human". Lothaire declared. Gaius paused on the herbs he was mixing and frowned, as he finally turned to face Lothaire as if he could see. Yes. He was blind, and it's a mystery how he gets to know who is in his room and what herbs to miss. "What did you just say?". Gaius asked, to make sure he heard Lothaire completely. "You heard me right". Lothaire said. Gaius scoffed. He heard him. 'Is this ancient crazy?'. He thought to himself. "Are you crazy?. You want to be a human?". Gaius asked. Lothaire didn't say anything. He just shrugged. "Heavens!". Gaius exclaimed. "You do know that what you're asking for is dangerous?. You won't make it". Gaius told him sincerely. "And why is that?". Lothaire asked with an arch of his brow. Even if he knows the answer to it. His kind can't do without blood. They need blood for their survival. They need blood. It's vital for their survival. "You can't go a day without blood. You can't abstain from blood, Lothaire". Gaius told him. "I can. I'll do it".

*THIS BOOK IS A WORK OF FICTION, ALL PLOTS AND EVENTS ARE NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE OR ANYTHING*
2050, In the secluded kingdom of Kota
Gaius knew the exact moment he wasn't alone, but still, he didn't turn to acknowledge whoever just entered his house.
"You should always walk through the door and not just appear like you own this place, and that includes coming through the window". Gaius complained.
"I want to make a wish". The intruder whose name was Lothaire ignored Gaius' complaints.
Gaius frowned. 'Do vampires ever need to make a wish when they can just have anything they wanted? Do they need to make a wish when they can make things happen? What wish does this ancient fool want to make that he can't do it himself?'. Gaius thought in confusion.
"For your information, I am not a fool". Lothaire glared at him.
Gaius flushed embarrassed. This is one reason why he hated vampires. Their ability to read people's minds.
"Anyways, what wish do you want to make that couldn't wait till dawn?". Gaius asked. He'd be a fool for almost forgetting that vampires were night creatures and they don't ever come out in the day.
"Can you go a hundred days without blood?". Gaius asked.
"Can you even go fifty days without blood?. In Fact, can you go twenty, or ten?".
Lothaire gave it a thought. This question put him off balance. Can he do it? He wanted to be with the love of his life. He wanted to be with Aurora. He'll do virtually everything to be with her.
"Is it because of humans?". Gaius inquired.
When Lothaire didn't answer, Gaius took his silence for an answer. He knew it. It was actually because of an immortal. It's actually because of a human.
"Heavens!". He exclaimed. "It's actually because of a human. You want to give up your abilities, all because of a human. C'mon Lothaire, what you're asking for is dangerous. It's difficult. I don't want you to die, and even if you want to, it shouldn't be because of a human. Am not sure she even loves you. Am not….".
"Shut up". Lothaire said, cutting him off. The calm yet deadly instruction sent shivers down Gaius' spine.
"You can't speak of Aurora like that. You know nothing about her".
Gaius sighed. 'Lovestruck vampire'. He muttered to himself, but of course, Lothaire heard him but didn't say anything.
The room went into total silence.
Lothaire was lost in his world. He just wanted to be a human. That's all. He wants to be able to spend time with Aurora, especially during the day. If she comes to know that he's a vampire, she'll leave him, cause she despises vampires a lot.
First, he'd said he'll make sure she doesn't have to find out. But she'll suspect that he's always coming to her room at night. They've never gone on a date or anywhere at all during the day. It's always at night.
One certain time, she had asked that they go on a date, but he'd turned down the request. Instead, he'd lied that he didn't like going on a date during the day. He'd told her that he prefers that they have their dates in the night, claiming that it was romantic.
She was an intelligent woman. She'll begin to suspect it.
If only she knows the main reason why he always turned down her requests.
And he'll try his best so she doesn't ever get to know.
"Why not turn her into a vampire instead?. At least that way you'd both get to be together forever". Gaius asked, breaking the silence and Lothaire's thoughts at the same time.
Lothaire scoffed, as he shook his head. "She hates my kind. She hates vampires. And turning her into a vampire is not a good idea. It'll do her more harm than good. She won't make it. She won't survive".
Gaius shook his head in total disbelief before he asked his next question.
"What about you?. Will you survive?".
Gaius was confused. What must have gotten into this ancient vampire? Gaius was confused. What must have gotten into this friend of his? He said the girl won't survive it. Is he then the one that'll survive it? Turning a human into a vampire is way easier than turning a vampire into a human.
Both ways are difficult, but the latter is more complex and complicated.
"One thing you didn't know is that turning a human into a vampire without their freewill will eventually harm them. They don't make it alive. It's either they're turned into something more or worse, and I don't want anything of the sort to happen. I don't want anything to happen to Aurora".
Gaius sighed. Indeed Lothaire is lovestruck. How did Lothaire fall so hard, and worst of it all, why did it have to be a human, the worst enemy of his kind? Humans and vampires don't get along. They've never gotten along.
"Think about what you're asking for". Gaius told him.
He'll try to see if he can get Lothaire to change his mind. What he's asking for is deadly. Vampires who had tried to do it in the past didn't end well. Some died. Some became creatures worse than vampires. It'll be hard for Lothaire. And worst of all, he's ancient. This will increase the impossibilities.
Lothaire hissed. He was somewhat getting impatient with Gaius for wasting his time.
"I've thought about it, Gaius and it's what I want". Lothaire replied.
"You may want to think about the sickly feeling, the uncontrollable urge that'll be accompanied. Abstaining from blood is the same as keeping away from food. Notwithstanding, a hundred days is way too long. No one has done it. No vampire has succeeded". Gaius pressed further. He'll try everything within his power to get this vampire to change his mind.
Lothaire is the only friend and family he has left. He doesn't want to lose him.
Lothaire seemed to read his thoughts. He walked towards Gaius' direction and placed his arms on Gaius' shoulder.
"I know you're worried about me, but trust me, I'll be fine and this is what I want. I've given it a thought. You don't have to worry about me".
Gaius sighed. "Fine. Suit yourself
A beautiful young lady of about twenty-four years could be seen sitting lazily on her semi-queen-sized bed.
From the look on her face, one could tell that she's been crying.
She took her eyes to the wall clock hanging on the wall.
It's the eighth hour of the night and still no sign of Nikolas. Goodness, it's been three days and she hasn't seen him or heard from him. She was getting worried because they didn't quarrel or have any misunderstanding that would make him leave without saying anything to her. He just disappeared into thin air.
She felt tears leave her eyes and didn't try to wipe them away.
Just then, she heard her doorknob turn, and her younger sister strode in, in that usual hasty step of hers.
"hey, sis?". Her sister, Gwendolyn, beamed in a cheerful tone as she climbed on the bed and sat beside her.
Gwendolyn frowned when she heard sniffles and sobs coming from her sister.
"You're still crying?" She inquired.
At that question from her little sister, Amelia burst into tears.
Gwendolyn exhaled deeply as she wrapped her arms around her sister, patting her back softly.
"It's okay sis, everything will be fine". Gwendolyn consoled her.
"I didn't say any bad words to him. I didn't fight with him. He left without saying anything to me". Amelia sobbed.
"I know. Everything will be fine dear".
Amelia shook her head. She wasn't sure everything would be alright. She wasn't sure everything would be alright, but she hoped it would. She's hurt for goodness sake.
When Gwendolyn saw that her elder sister wasn't ready to be consoled, she gave up.
"Anyways, Dad said I should remind you of your training tomorrow with Diego". Gwendolyn relayed her father's message as she turned to leave.
As she left, Amelia felt a pang of guilt nib at her heart. She felt guilty. She knows her little sister left because she felt that her efforts to console her weren't working.
Why was she even crying over Nikolas? Does that mean he never liked her in the first place? Was he just playing her all this while? Was he pretending to love her when he never did after all?
Men suck after all. They'll make you fall in love with them, and the next minute you'll realize that they were fooling you all along. And she was that fool. Falling for Nikolas.
She felt really angry that she wanted nothing but to scream or better still let off steam.
'Calm down girl'. She heard that familiar voice at the back of her head.
She exhaled deeply, in an attempt to calm herself down. There was no need to be angry. She has herself to blame.
With that, she walked straight to her small bathroom where she spent quality time trying to calm herself down.
All of a sudden, she began to feel something strange like someone was watching her right in the bathroom, but when she turned around to look, she wouldn't see anyone.
She sighed and continued her bath.
The same gut feeling came again, and this time it was different. She could feel somebody's eyes on her.
She turned back, and this time she felt like she could see a pair of eyes shining brightly in the dimly lit room.
A part of her wanted to feel that Nikolas was here. She wanted to believe that he was here with her, but no he wasn't. It wasn't him.
She sighed as she quickly took her bath and returned to her room. She changed into her pajamas and settled down to sleep when that gut feeling from earlier came again. She didn't take it to mind, cause she knew that it was her subconscious again.
She closed her eyes to sleep, but sleep wouldn't come. She needed to sleep because she will be having a training session first thing in the morning.
Not like she had any interest at all in the training. She only wanted to please her father and grandfather who claimed that grown-up members of the Hale family must carry on with the lineage of vampire slayers.
When sleep wouldn't come, she stood up and went to sit at her desk and brought out her diary.
She wants to jot down something, but her head couldn't form any words at the moment.
She sighed and went back and lay on her bed waiting for sleep to consume her.
A few minutes later, she had just drifted to sleep when she felt the cold air hit her skin. She frowned because she made sure she locked the windows. She got out of her bed and went to shut the windows.
She gasped when she came into contact with those familiar pairs of eyes that she has come to love. She quickly shut her eyes and shook her head expecting the image to go away by the time she opened her eyes, but she was very surprised to see that the pairs of eyes were still in her line of view.
'why is he messing with my head?'. She thought to herself.
"Lia?".
She heard her name. She was certain that her subconscious was deliberately playing games with her.
She didn't reply as she made her way to her bed to retire to sleep.
She heard her name again. This time it sounded so real. Maybe her subconscious wasn't playing games on her. Maybe Nikolas was here.
"Niko?" She called out.
He appeared and stood before her. Amelia couldn't believe her eyes. Nikolas was here. She suddenly realized that the gut feeling from earlier was real. Her Niko was here.
She didn't even know when she jumped into his arms.
If Nikolas hadn't seen it coming, they would have both landed on the floor.
Her anger toward him disappeared in a blink of an eye at the sight of him. She felt relieved and elated that he was here. She wrapped her arms tightly around him, afraid he'll leave if she loosened her grip.
"Lia". Nikolas muttered. Heavens, he has missed her. These three days have not been easy for him.
Chapter 2
It wasn't easy for him to leave to meet Gaius and stay away from her. He had missed her badly.
He was eager to see her as soon as he got to Kota.
"Lia, I've missed you." Still having her in his arms, he continued.
She started crying shortly after that.
"Niko, where have you been?" Through her tears, she asked quietly.
The gently posed question made Nikolai feel extremely sad.
He was aware that he needed to either tell her where he was going or, better yet, that he was traveling. She wouldn't be overly concerned, at least.
He didn't, however, respond to her query. He simply gave her a cool back pat.
"I'm sorry." He murmured to himself.
"I was worried." She mumbled.
I was concerned. I cried uncontrollably at night. I agonized for days trying to think of a reason why you might have d
